later realize that the machine also needs a crazy amount of power to send a toy car back in time, so they use the battery from the car of David's crush, Jessie Pierce, behind her back. They end up getting caught by Jessie and include her into the experiment, which they nickname "Project Almanac." At first it's all fun and games. Adam uses it to win the lottery, Quinn uses it to pass a chemistry quiz and Christina uses it to get back at her bullies. Then something really weird happens and they promise to use the machine on Page 4 February 13, 2015 Arts and Entertainment Kourtney Sanders Staff Writer Completely unrealistic and confusing. Time travel is always interesting to me and this movie was alright, but it could've been better. Filled with unique characters and plot twists! Julissa Villalobos Staff Writer Karou's odd features are shown on this book's cover. Amazing movie with an outstanding cast. Tessa Jones Staff Writer 'American Sniper' provides emotional look into Chris Kyle, played by Bradley Cooper, lands at an airbase with many of his fellow marine SEALs as part of his military service featured in the rated 'R' action movie 'American Sniper'. 'American Sniper' is an Action Thriller directed by Clint Eastwood, starring Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Jake McDorman, and Luke Grimes. To say 'American Sniper' is intense would be an understatement. It's an extremely emotional movie that depicts a very realistic overview of the lives of those serving overseas, and the daily nightmares they encounter. The film covers the life of Chris Kyle (Cooper), and his life in service. Growing up, Kyle always saw himself turning out as a cowboy, but as time went on he wanted his life to head in a different direction. After seeing the news coverage of the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings, he enlists in the SEALs to become a sniper, wanting to help stop the terrorism going on in the United States. After months of strenuous training, Kyle becomes a SEAL. While out celebrating, he meets Taya (Miller), and they start a relationship that leads to a wedding. Though soon after his wedding, Kyle and other members of his team are called overseas for their first tour. Although his first kill on tour saves a team of Marines, it is visually upsetting to Kyle. After months on tour, he earns the nickname "the Legend," having have saved many with his several kills as a sniper. He continues the tour searching a leader in al-Qaeda, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. After his first tour comes to an end, Kyle returns home to his pregnant wife, Taya, and is able to be there for the birth of his son. However, after some time at home Taya is able to see the tour has affected Kyle in more ways than he is willing to admit. 'American Sniper' really moved its audience, showing a vivid portrayal of what Chris Kyle went through as a sniper, and the tough decisions he had to make to protect his own. 'American Sniper' really confirms how grateful we should be toward men in service. This movie is recommended for anyone teenage and up. The film is rated R for is intense military action and language. 'Project Almanac' gives off a very mediocre performance parties go; lots of colorful balloons, cakes and presents, but in this video David catches a brief glimpse of his seventeen year old self in a ref lection. Later he, his sister, Christina, and his two other friends, Adam and Quinn, end up finding blueprints for a 'temporal relocation device' that David's dad was creating for the U.S. military. In order to successfully build a working time machine, they steal hydrogen canisters from their school to create some type of fusion the machine needs. The four 'Jupiter Ascending' Impressive novel enthralls readers Rebecca Frey Staff Writer 'Jupiter Ascending', a PG- 13 2015 Sci-fi/Action movie, is completely misleading. In the trailer, it makes it seem like Jupiter Jones, played by Mila Kunis, is part of the other galaxy. But the truth is Jupiter is just a normal human being. She lives on Earth and cleans homes with her family. But one day she sees these weird alien things called Keepers that try to kidnap a woman n a m e d K at he r i ne. They realize K a t h e r i n e isn't the one they want, and that Jupiter was w a t c h i n g and swiped both of their memories. Jupiter goes on with life and makes a deal with her cousin to sell her eggs for 5,000 dollars for a telescope that reminds her of her father who was shot and killed during a robbery of their home while she was in the womb. She goes to the clinic under Katherine's name and is on the table when the nurses turned into the Keepers that had swiped her memory before. The Keepers were sent from this guy named Balem who wanted her dead since she apparently owned the Earth. They have a mask on her face with drugs that will kill her when this half wolf half man named Caine, played by Channing Tatum, comes in and saves her. He explains everything to her. They're always under attack by either Keepers or bounty hunters. In fact, Jupiter's kidnapped so many times it's hard to keep count. Jupiter starts to fall for Caine, which you could definitely see coming. Both Titus and Balem want her, so they can have the Earth to harvest. Balem and Titus each try to get the Earth from her by completely different ways. B a l e m goes after J u p i t e r ' s f a m i l y , and Titus p r o p o s e s to Jupiter. Throughout this movie you never know who to believe. You don't know who's the bad guy until the very end. It has so many twists, but not the good kind. It was very confusing and looked completely unrealistic. Even the bees and flowers in this movie looked fake. The two hours and five minutes of the film was two hours and five minutes too much. " Even the bees and flowers in this movie looked fake. " - Kourtney Sanders misleads viewers in 'Daughter of Smoke and Bone' by Laini Taylor is a captivating fantasy and romance trilogy that will make you laugh, cry, and maybe lose your mind a little. It's about a girl named Karou, and she's about as mysterious as a girl can get. To her friends, she has a murky past and no family. Her blue hair seems to grow out of her head that color, she has tattoos of eyes on her hands, and she always seems to be running bizarre errands that end with things like teeth in her pocket or scars on her body, and won't explain why. She's strange, and a little wild. However, the truth is much more thrilling. She lives with people that could be classified by monsters to the humans, but they're her family. They also have tattoos of hands on their palms, and their bodies are like a mix of different species and animals put together to form a body. They're called chimaera- a race from a different u n i v e r s e , l i v i n g between the cracks of ours. Br imstone, a father-figure of sorts to Karou, owns a shop that uses teeth for a currency; what do they pay for? Wishes. S o m e t i m e s he sends Karou out for some, hence her 'bizarre errands.' One day, though, her world f lips upside down when she finds that the doorway to her family is burned and she has no way of getting back to them. Through trying to get to them, she meets Akiva and his siblings. They look like angels with fiery wings, but are far from it. They are called seraphim, and they come from the same world Karou's family does, and the two races have been at war for centuries. Akiva has a sense that he knows Karou, but can't seem to place it. Karou tries not to befriend Akiva, but she can't seem to walk away. 'Daughter of Smoke and Bone' is like a fantasy modern-day 'Romeo and Juliet' story, but with way more enthralling twists and turns throughout the whole story. The unique plot's depth will keep you guessing until you finish. This series will mesmerize you until the very end with the amazing and characters and their developments throughout the series. I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy. linkedin.com ropeofsilicon.com The characters of 'Project Almanac' marvel at a mysterious machine. pinterest.com 'Project Almanac' is a found footage science fiction thriller film about the desirable, yet inscrutable concept of time travel. The movie begins with intelligent high school student, David Raskin, making a submission video demonstrating an invention he designed in an attempt to get accepted into MIT, one of the world's top technological universities. He does get the letter stating that he was admitted, but that ecstatic smile slips right off his face when he reads on and realizes he isn't able to afford its tuition. To be able to pay for the college, he goes through his father's belongings, an inventor who died, in hopes of discovering something else he could use to obtain a scholarship. He finds an old camera with a video of his 7th birthday recorded on it and decides to watch it later on. We all know how 7 year olds' the condition that nobody goes alone. The group later decides to travel three months back to Lollapolooza, a music festival. Things start to get messy when David decides to go back in time alone to correct his missed shot to kiss Jessie at Lollapolooza and everything goes downhill from there. That mistake caused a crazy ripple effect that endangered many people. This movie was okay, it wasn't mind blowing and it wasn't bad. Even though it had a thin plot and it was kind of confusing when David kept going back in time to fix his errors, time travel to me is still interesting. From a scale of 1-10 I give it a 7. soldiers' lives while serving as Marine SEALs confusing story line Feb. 13 Events: -Lovey Dovey Radio -Singing Valentines goes to classes to sing -Roses from Floral Design -Valentine's handout 'Crush' sodas from Student Government
