Varsity Soccer Teams in the Tournament Insert Page 4 December 17, 2014 Anderson Yreka Paradise Wheatland West Valley Duraham Red Bluff Senior Wrestling and Soccer The varsity wrestling team here at Red Bluff High is kicking it into gear and starting to prepare for this year's season. There has been a sense of disappoint- ment in the air for this year's senior com- petitors in regards of Red Bluff's most popular tournament of the year, Holiday Classic. The tournament that so many of the se- nior wrestlers look forward to each year will only have junior varsity teams com- peting due to lack of commitment from other varsity teams. Despite this unpleasant news the team is practicing hard and doing everything they can to better themselves as competi- tors. The practices are intense and the ex- pectations for year's season are high. Senior Logan Warnecke commented on the routine of a typical practice stat- ing, "We warm up with cardio exercises. Then we learn and practice new moves to better ourselves against our opponents. After that we live wrestle and then condi- tion with some more intense cardio." The seniors on this year's wrestling team are looking forward to the season and are eager to compete. This year's league consist of Red Bluff, Chico, Pleasant Val- ley, Paradise, Enterprise, and Shasta. According to Coach Minto this league change will definitely be more competi- tive. He also stated, "Our toughest team this year will most likely be Chico. I think they will be the number one team to beat." The seniors on the team are lacking in experience. For a couple of them this is only their first year competing, but Coach Minto is still maintaining a positive out- look, only looking forward to players making improvements throughout the season. In the words of Coach Minto, "I would like to be able to beat some of the teams later this season that we are losing to now and I think we have the potential." Coach Minto is not only thinking of this years season, but planning ahead and working hard to prepare the younger ath- letes for theeir senior year. As he stated as a goal for himself, "My goal this year is to get the younger players as much ex- perience as possible and to stick with it in order to have a tough team." Hopefully the teams positive attitude continues throughout the season and they will get the results they are looking for.
