Chamber Link www.daltonchamber.org November 2014 2 Chairman's Message I'm back! I am so honored to be serving another term as Chairman of the Board for the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce. Andy Walker has officially retired after a long and very active record of service with our organization. Andy has served as the Past Chair of the Dalton-Whitfield County Joint Development Authority. He was not only instrumental in developing our economic development plan, but in creating a board retreat which took us on-site to visit another community this year. This type of vision and leadership will be missed. Andy was also rec- ognized recently at our 74th annual banquet with the 2014 Chairman's award. As you'll notice this issue is all about "Buying Local". We will focus on shopping locally for the holidays and our partnership to Shop Small with American Express. Saturday, November 29th is Shop Small Saturday. This initiative, in its 4th year is helping retailers and service industries to keep money in our local economy. Be sure to look around town and see the Shop Small signs, balloons and goodies. Buy local means not only shopping local but using local businesses for items like printing, insurance, medical and legal issues. Your Chamber encourages you to think local first and use local business that support our Chamber of Commerce. As usual we feature all of our regular stories in ChamberLink. Please give us your feed- back if there's something special you'd like to see. Robert H.
