The event, Witches Night Out, will feature participants in full witch attire joining in a novelty shuffle around the block to "sweep away cancer". For a $10 donation, participants will receive a broom, with a decorative bow in the cancer awareness color of their choice, to use in the Broom K. All proceeds from the event will go to the American Cancer Society. The Broom K will start at 6PM at the intersection of Pier and Franklin Streets. "This is not a traditional Run/Walk, it is a full- costume shuffle, dash, walk or fly with the full cost ($10 per participant) going to The American Cancer Society." said Melissa Suddendorf, Broom K organizer. "In addition to raising funds to fight-back against cancer, our hope is that the witches place the broom in their Halloween decorations to show support for families battling cancer and to keep folks thinking about sweeping away cancer even after the event". The annual Witches Night Out, a ghouly-girls night to celebrate Halloween, will include "treats" and refreshments back at Pear & Simple after the Broom K.
