"The improvement realized by our district rating is a tribute to our talent- ed students, dedicated faculty and staff and supportive parents and communi- ty," Superintendent Mark Hansen said. "Together, we will continue to work towards ensuring every student is col- lege and career-ready by focusing on individual student growth and closing achievement gaps." Report cards were filed for 2,113 schools and 424 districts statewide. Dis- trict report cards are calculated for the district as a whole, essentially treating it as a large school. Scores for both schools and districts are calculated on a scale of zero to 100. This is the second year for district report cards and the third year for school report cards, according to a DPI press release. Both evaluate schools and districts in four priority areas: student achievement in reading and mathemat- ics on statewide assessments; student growth in those assessed areas; closing gaps for reading and mathematics achievement and graduation, based on student subgroups; and postsecondary readiness, which uses several measures as predictors of college and career readiness. Brookfield East and Central significantly exceed expectations Leading the way for Waukesha Coun- ty high schools is the Kettle Moraine School for Arts and Performance, which was second on the list of high schools that significantly exceeded expectations with a score of 94.8.
