bighorn sheep by sarah feldberg Mail nightlife wish list Last week, the Weekly's Mike Prevatt broke down the cool stuff our party playground is still missing. Readers added their own suggestions online. A venue for up-and-coming talent that will accommodate under 21. –Candice Marie Lounges with live music for the older crowd. We have many local performers like Earl Turner and Cook E. Jarr who people would love to go see. –Patty Janik Exactly what Mike Prevatt said. –Dee Martinez Local live music venue. I still remember and miss the Huntridge. Also, local nightlife in general. I miss places like Whiskey Sky that were local lounges where I could sit and chat or dance without buying a bot- tle. –Patty Doyle baa, baa, bighorn sheep Feel like playing paparazzi to Southern Nevada's native wildlife? Here's some extra advice on where to spot bighorns. A local treat. The sheep are at [Hemenway Park] fairly consistently in my experience, probably about 80 percent of the times I've stopped to check over 15 years. The bighorn sheep at Hemenway Park sometimes wander southeast toward the Boulder City bypass (the 93). Perhaps the grass along the trail/flood channel seems greener? The animal control people have had to direct the herd back toward Hemenway. I've had to wait on my bike for the sheep to com- ply before I could continue. Members of the River Mountains herd are also sometimes seen along the River Mountains Loop Trail, especially around mile markers 14-16, and like the article suggests, the herd is shyer away from the park. –HistoryNevada Letters may be edited for length and/or clarity. LVWeekLy @GMGVeGas.coM c o n t r i b u t o r Gerad Taylor, Illustrator For this week's pin-up cover girl we went all the way to New Zealand to tap Gerad Taylor, a veteran illustra- tor who has worked for clients across the globe, including major brands like Coca-Cola. The Auckland native has done all kinds of illustration but gravitated toward retro-style images as his career went on. "I guess I find illustration from the '40s-'60s more interesting as it is the era before digital media where illustrators really had to be able to draw and paint. I worked in those traditional media until the advent of digital painting programs and then adapted my skills to that medium, trying not to lose the essence of the traditional styles." $ 50 , 000 PRO PICK'EM CONTEST $ 50 , 000 PRO PICK'EM CONTEST Must be 21.
