It is in- credibly hard to believe that the sum- mer has flown by already. e year is flying by as well. Time waits for no one. Live for the day! is month's feature is one that I am very excited about. Diversity Rules Magazine is honored to be able to pub- licize the plight of Luke O'Donovan. Luke is a gay male in Georgia that was the victim of a hate crime. However instead of arresting those that com- mitted this heinous crime, the police arrested Luke instead for assault be- cause he defended himself. After his court trial Luke was sen- tenced to two years in prison along with 8 years of probation banned from the state of Georgia with the ex- ception of a very small judicial district located in the southernmost part of Georgia. A member of Luke's support team, Spencer Gould, was graciouis enough to do the interview with Diversity Rules Magazine to publicize Luke's plight and to undertake a public cam- paign to help convince the judge to abdicate his harsh and very arcane probation sentence. In this day and age we hear about hate crimes and cases like Luke's almost every week, where homophobia runs rampant. Hate crimes are committed against people whose only crime is be- ing themselves. is has got to stop. Enough is enough. I would encourage you to visit Luke's support page and make a donation to help Luke with basic necessities dur- ing his two years in prison. I would also encourage you to write to the judge in the case and ask him to abdi- cate his harsh and very punitive pro- bration sentence. Luke will apprecitate it.
