ROOFTOP RENOS Party impresario Victor Drai is dazzling the throngs again with his new 65,0 0 0 -square-foot Drai's Beach Club and Nightclub—11 stories up, atop The Cromwell (thecromwell.com). It's part of a citywide rooftop renaissance t hat a lso includes Picnic, a tented outdoor bar/restaurant with commu- na l t ables, ga mbling, a nd evening enter t a inment on t he pool level of Downtown Grand (downtowngrand.com). Miami transplant Delano Las Vegas (delanolasvegas.com) will have a roof- top ba r a nd lounge of it s ow n, w it h fa nt ast ic v iews from it s sout h St r ip location, when it opens September 1. At Caesa rs, where Nobu Hotel fea- tures a rooftop villa for the ultimate globe-trotting ballers, the legendary t wo - stor y nightclub P u re, w it h it s 14,000-square-foot terrace, has closed for renovations. F A DI NG M A L L , BR IGH T F U T U R E What was once the largest mall in Las Vegas has been showing signs of age, but a renova- tion should ensure that the Boulevard Mall doesn't become a bouleva rd of broken drea ms. The for - merly booming mall, which was built in 1965 and hasn't had a major renovation in more than two decades, is being transformed into a modern shop- ping, dining, a nd enter t a inment dest inat ion. Sansone Companies (sansonecompanies.com), which purchased the mall for $54.5 million last year, plans to spend around $25 million to redevelop it, adding new stores to a complex that already includes Sears, Macy's, J.C. Penney, and Marshalls. The renovation is set for completion by 2015 and will include a redesigned façade a nd a fa r mers ma rket w it h about 70 vendors a nd a playg round. Sa nsone also plans to add new restaurants and family-friendly entertainment venues, along with valet parking and free Wi-Fi. "When we took ownership of the prop- erty," says Roland Sansone, "we saw it as an opportunity to breathe new life into not only the mall, but Maryland Parkway as well." SPEEDY DELIVERY As Downtown Summerlin takes shape next door, Station Casinos is spending $35 million to overhaul its Red Rock Resort (redrock resort.com), including a full renovation of 26 of its highest-end suites and the Spa at Red Rock. But per- haps the most exciting change for locals is t he addit ion of Rest aura nt Row, which expands on the resort's already-successful Yard House and Lucille's Smokehouse Bar- B -Que with several new eateries, includ- ing Mercadito Red Rock, t he inventive Mexican restaurant by Chicago's Sandoval brothers, and a new concept from the Light Group t hat includes fa r mers ma rket – inspired dishes a nd ha ndcrafted beers. The resort, marking its eighth year in busi- ness, is also adding a new parking area for casino visitors who want easy access to the shops.
