"Foothill was terrible," said Chapman. Also, they believe their solid season was due to their connections to one another, and say they will continue to strengthen those bonds. Even though they had a solid season, they admit there were bumps in the road. "Our brotherly bonds helped us out in a lot of games and tight spots, but we could have been more organized and mentally there," said first base and pitcher Wesley Clawson, freshman. Clawson said that another helping factor to them this season was their intensity, which he said they will keep up next season. They even have ideas on how to keep on improving throughout the next year before the 2015 season begins. "Most of us will keep on playing baseball by being on summer teams; it'll help us get better and learn new techniques," said pitcher and outfielder Ian Hoskins, freshman. Meanwhile, the boys are already preparing for next year and hope to win the JV title with the techniques they know they will learn over the summer. even harder than ever before. They've learned many lessons throughout the season, and they'll definitely use it to their advantage for next season. "We'll work to get back to playoffs and come out as league champions. [We] just have to take it one series at a time," said Ryan Gamboa, sophomore. Despite the loss towards Foothill, the varsity baseball team has made many memories throughout the 2013-2014 season. The team's favorite memory was winning the Central Valley tournament. They went into the championships against the defending section champions and came out with the win. During this year's season, the varsity baseball team was faced with many different challenges. With the season starting to wrap up, the varsity baseball team now knows what exactly they need to work on for next year. With quite a few seniors not playing for the high school next season, the players are heartbroken that some of their best players are leaving, but they're still putting their best foot forward. The Red Bluff High School's varsity baseball team only has one goal on their mind for next season, and that is coming out on top in the end as league champions as well as overall baseball succesors. "We'll work to get back to playoffs and come out as league champions. " -Ryan Gamboa While other sports are wrapping up, track and field is still marching on. Many track athletes have already finished up their season, but others are not finished yet. The top three athletes in every event compete in league. Then the top two in league automatically go to divisions. However, four more athletes have the chance to make it to divisions. Out of the two collections (divisions) of schools, 8 athletes compete to see who gets the best in their event. The top four who score the best move on into divisions. Now, do not be confused. Field and track are "one" team, but are somewhat separate. Field is only throwing and jumping. It includes long jump, triple jump, high jump, discus, and shot-put. Other schools have pole vault, but our school nixed the it because of an accident from the past. Jacob Samuelson, thrower, said, "We feel secluded, it's not just one big team." However both Samuelson and Camille Hess, thrower, say, "Our field team bond is great. We always get along and tell jokes. It's like a family." At the beginning of the season, the practices started off easy, but then the practices got harder. The practices got more difficult the higher an athlete's personal record is. Throwing is all about technique and agility. They had two meets a week at the beginning and they also had invitations on Saturdays. Joey Dagen, jumper, said, that his favorite part of the season was, "Trying to beat was personal record was my favorite part because I wanted to get better." So as track and field are continuing, wish them luck in the coming competitions! The boys' JV baseball team had a decent and memorable season this year. Their season ended on May 9 at Shasta High School. It ended with a win, leaving the boys with a solid 8-4 record in league. They agree that it was a good season and they're looking forward to a better one next year. "Overall, I think we did pretty good this season, with the exception of our game against Foothill." commented outfielder Michael Chapman, freshman, on the end of the season.
