"it's competitive but it's fun at the same time because you get to meet a lot of people and new friends." -Kayla Thayer "I love tennis because it teaches you how to be a strong individual." -Thunder Shaffer "it's my passion." "it's a way for me to help people less fortunate than myself, and I have a big heart for the orphans because I love children and being able to help the children that can't help themselves." Tiffany Jensen has been involved in youth group at her church for many years. She has also attended Hume Lake, a youth Christian camp, for several years. Tiffany has taken her faith a step further, though. Two years ago, she visited Ecuador for the first time, and on her own time, she has visited it two more times with both of her parents. She visits the same orphanage every time she goes to Ecuador, and her faith is what has brought her to this passion of helping the orphans. Tiffany will continue her traveling ministry after high school. Tristen Madero has been dancing for ten years. In RBHS, he began as a Dance I member in his sophomore year. As a junior, he was a member of Dance II. He joined Dance Team this year, as a senior. He began dancing competitively at age fourteen with a dance team in New York, at a competition in Pocono, New Jersey. The highlight of his Dance Team experience was the Holiday Classic performance, he says. He also plans on continuing dance after high school. Kellie Rodriguez has been singing from a young age. She has been a member of show choir for all four years of her high school career. She has also been majorly involved in music outside of high school. She has sung at weddings over the summer, performed in musicals outside of school and one in school, and even produced music in a recording studio. Kellie will be attending University of Utah in the fall, where she has been accepted into a prestigious performing arts program, which selectively accepts a small number of students each year. "it has the ability to make the audience truly feel something." Alaina Rudnick I love TRAVELING because... Alaina Rudnick has traveled to Canada, the UK, and India on her lonesome. She has traveled to Austria on the high school exchange trip. She has traveled to the Caribbean, Hawaii, Alaska, Spain, Costa Rica, and Morocco with her family. This summer, she is traveling to Greece. Alaina has experienced some unforgettable memories during her travels, some of those including zip-lining on some of the world's longest zip-lines, riding camels in Morocco, and saving a hatchling turtle in Costa Rica.Alaina will be attending American University in Washington DC, where she will be studying human relations in the fall. "I've found myself more in places I've never been before or seen, and I've learned more in places where I can't even speak the language than I ever have sitting at home, and I think I always will." Thunder Shaffer and Kayla Thayer are both outstanding athletes at RBHS. Thunder has been section champion for doubles tennis multiple times. He has also earned second place in his league for two years in a row, but this year he completed his goal of earning first place in league. Kayla Thayer has been in track since her freshman year. She has competed in discus and shot put, and earned a full-ride scholarship to UCSB for throwing, and she will be competing today to determine whether she will be able to compete at state this year.
