By Kirsten Klahn Special to The Freeman DELAFIELD – From a new hairstyle to bright nails, spring and summer are times to show off. Lighter nail polish colors are becoming must-haves for spring and summer, said Mary Beth Berns, co- owner of Craig Berns Salon Spa, 645 Wells St., Delafield. Polish in various forms of orchid is popular, Berns said, as well as silver chrome. "Silver chrome is coming back," Berns said. "It has various multidimensional looks, and we're seeing a lot of chrome with differ- ent depths. It's really fun. We're also seeing lighter greens for Easter and spring." And, for those who want a manicure but don't want to wait for it to dry, there's good news. Berns said the salon offers a regular nail polish that completely dries in 10 minutes and lasts about 10 days. But, for someone who's getting ready for a vacation or the beach, she recommends opting for the shellac. It stays on longer and can stand the wear and tear that comes with spend- ing time on the beach. Uplifting colors are also big for spring and summer, said Jeanne Dahms, owner of Aura Salon LLC, 285 For- est Grove Drive, Suite 100, Pewaukee. Popular colors include pastels, blues, yel- lows and greens, she said. To whip hands and feet into warm-weather shape, Dahms said it's important to get rid of dead skin and cuticles. That can be done with manicures and pedi- cures, or even a paraffin wax treatment, which helps hydrate and moisturize the skin after a long, cold win- ter. With summer comes sun. More sun means protecting the skin with a lotion with a high sun protection fac- tor, said Kristin Sarskas, an aesthetician at Aura Salon LLC.
