R E M O D E L • R E N O VAT E • R E S T O R E Brookfield & Elm Grove T H I S M O N T H BROOKFIELD – Now is the perfect time to get your body ready for the summer months. And, there's no better way to begin then by prepping for a wax, said Julie Janes, an aesthetician at Amazing Grace Spa, 3305 N. 124th St., Brook- field. Begin growing leg hair out now, she said. It takes about four weeks to grow hair to a wax-worthy length. Results can last about a month, Janes said. For men venturing into the world of waxing, Janes said she recommends waxing their back and chest. To shed a winter layer, Janes recom- mends a body wrap, designed to tight- en and detoxify the skin. The treat- ment, called the European Alpha Body Wrap, also helps slim waistlines. After three to four wraps, Janes said partici- pants can drop up to a clothing size. Protecting the skin To greet summer with a golden glow, Janes suggests the Fake Bake products. The Fake Bake line carries a clear, uncolored lotion, which users can apply daily to build a light, gradual tan. It also provides moisture. Before using the products, exfoliate. Using a sugar scrub in the shower rids the skin of dead cells and leaves a thin oil, allowing users to skip moisturizing. These products also work just as well for men. "Men love the Fake Bake air- brush self-tanner," Janes said. Back facials are another popular item for summer. "If you're looking ahead to summer when you're wearing less clothing, a back acne treatment is a great idea. You can just use a spray on your back, chest or anywhere else that's breaking out, and it makes a huge difference," Janes said. Both men and women should find a good sunscreen. A tinted moisturizer with a high sun protection factor is a summer option, Janes said. Mineral makeup is another choice, because it has its own protective block. "Also, I like to stress a sunscreen for men to wear on their face and the back of their necks. GloTherapeutics oil- free SPF 30+ is perfect for guys, because of its light-weight sheerness," Janes said. Couple to be honored with Eddy Award BROOKFIELD – The Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts announced that Marianne and Sheldon Lubar will receive the 10th annual Eddy Award. According to a release, the award recognizes the Lubars' commitment to and the leadership within numerous arts organizations throughout southeast- ern Wisconsin. The Lubars will be honored June 7 during The Big Event, the Wilson Center's annual fundraiser. Marianne Lubar has served on the boards of many area organizations, including the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Florentine Opera Company, the Mil- waukee Public Library Foundation, the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Next Act Theatre, the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Fine Arts Museum-INOVA and the Friends of the Haggerty Museum of Art. She is the founding president of the Jewish Museum Mil- waukee. In 2002, she received the State of Wisconsin Governor's Award in support of the arts. Sheldon Lubar is the founder and chairman of Lubar & Co., a private investment and capital man- agement firm based in Milwaukee. He has been appointed by three American presidents to serve in the roles of assistant secretary for the U.S. Depart- ment of Housing and Urban Development, commis- sioner of the Federal Housing Authority and com- missioner of the White House Conference on Small Businesses. Lubar also has served on the boards of many nonprofit and for-profit organizations in the Milwaukee area.
