They're off to a great start in league, an undefeated 3-0, and an overall season so far of 14-3 this year. However, the Bluffer won't have the results yet, but the girls did talk about how ready and confident they were about the game, which they thought the game will go well, since they have played Foothill four times before, and a Red Bluff High School versus Foothill record of 3-1. They admit that their best advantage going against this team is their good communication. "We had a really good start to the season and had only a couple of losses." said wing and point Jennifer Weightman. The girls' defense has allowed them to do well in addition to communication on the court. They have been working on defense from the start of the season under the lead of coach Elbie Doege and have made lots of progress. "We do what we do." jokingly stated post Rena Fox. However, despite the rocky start, the boys' still remain optimistic and are hungry for another win. The players aren't exactly having the best season. However, they're still working harder and harder each day to improve for the rest of the season. To improve, the team will focus on ball handling, rebounds, dribbling, and communicating on the court. They have been improving since the beginning of the season; however, they boys don't feel as if it's enough to meet their expectations. They're working hard to ensure themselves that they'll have better outcomes during this season. "We're always going to give 100 percent," said sophomore Lane Pritchard. When asked, the JV basketball team said their biggest competitor would have to be West Valley. It was said that they're equal teams, and their going to knock them out next time. . One great factor that helps the team improve is their relationships with each other. A majority of the team were already team mates during football season, so already they know how to work as one cohesive unit. Throughout the season, they've built stronger relationships with each other and bond well together; they're a much closer team now than last year. The JV basketball team excells at 3-pointers, ball movement, drive to the hoop, defense, agility, and a great support system on the bench. The boys are full of team spirit.. Their supportive attitude is what motivates each player to become better. "Tanner gets us pumped up and we all just go crazy pretty much," said sophomore Bryce Sinclair. Despite the rough season the boys' are having so far, they're still having a positive attitude for better outcomes this season. Their optimistic attitude will drive them into working harder. "A blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while," said Sinclair. The RBHS wrestling team has been hard at work this wrestling season preparing for upcoming matches and wrestling tournaments. There are many techniques and moves each wrestler learns during their wrestling career. With all the hard work each individual wrestler has improved throughout the year. The wrestlers have also been working hard to qualify for the upcoming league, division, section, and state championships coming up. The wrestling team practices moves that are most likely to occur during their live matches. They also work on different pinning combinations and near fall moves, which are moves that take their opponent to the ground. Some examples of moves used to make their opponent vulnerable to being pinned would be the outside single leg, ankle pick, and The Grasshopper. Zumalt cleared the ball and Lilly Taylor took it and deflected it off of a player and then kicked it back into the net. Zumalt was sick and played through it. Cheyenne Houghtby had good saves and was on her toes ready to go with four quality saves despite her hip injury. Their coach, Javier Vasquez said, "We are expecting a good game up against West Valley tonight at 6 at the Red Bluff High School campus." West Valley is number one in the league and we have had two tough games against them already. A score of 0:1 and 0:2 the games were not an easy feat by any means.
