world of its eminent disaster, as well as to save the dream world from the evil of the black forest. The author takes you on a gripping journey that blurs the line between fantasy and reality. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading, as it will be impossible to put down once you're absorbed in this epic novel. 'The Lego Movie' presents heartwarming plot Page 4 February 14, 2014 Arts and Entertainment Ashley Boughan Guest Writer Bluffer Staff Pick Waiting for Forever (2010) Get lost in the literature forest of 'Black' Legos have been one of the most popular building blocks in the world ever since their release in 1958 and although the popular brand has released ever ything from the classic blocks to video games and theme parks they just released their f irst full length feature f ilm. The movie follows the adventures of Emmet Brickowski (Chris Pratt), an average guy in Lego land that in the process of his nor mal day f inds the Piece of Resistance which tur ns out to be the key to saving lego land and ever ything that it stands for. After f inding the piece of resistance Emmet is kidnapped by President Business (Will Fer rell) the evil dictator of Lego land and saved by the ver y edgy and exciting Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks) a master builder. And after that it's generally the cliché stor y of an average Joe guy that f inds the talent within him and saves the day and of course gets the girl, only with Legos. That's where you would think it stops but sur prisingly the movie goes deeper with a human 'Waiting for Forever' was an adorable movie. It would be perfect movie to put on and snuggle up on the couch with the your significant other for a movie night or to watch with the person whom you are dating for Valentine's day if you want a cute, romantic, funny, sometimes heartbreaking, and, overall, heartwarming film. The acting is done very well, the filming was amazing, and the songs chosen for the film work beautifully. The story line is beyond perfect. When childhood best friends become separated in the fifth grade when a train derails in town and kills Will's parents. He moves away to live with a relative. When Will is grown he works as a magician and earns forty dollars a day. He arrives back in town because Emma is there to see her father whom is very sick. Will promises his best friends that he will see Emma either today or tomorrow to tell her that he is in love with her and has been in love with her ever since he can remember. This sounds typical of romance movies but 'Waiting for Forever' is definitely something else. The plot has unexpected twists and moments when you are hoping for the best and expecting the worst. The typical outcome of romantic movies and the dreaded worst case scenario are never met but those ideas are demolished by an entirely unpredictable and wonderful plot that has twist after twist. The layout of the story is completely original and well worth seeing. I would have to give 'Waiting for Forever' four and a half stars if you are watching it just to watch a movie, but if you are watching 'Waiting for Forever' in a Valentine's Day mindset or craving an excellent romance movie hands down five stars. Jeff Mondolfo Staff Writer Molly Shea Staff Writer 'Black,' by Ted Dekker, is an action thriller meant for young adults. The book is the first in a series called 'The Circle,' in which the book 'Black' is named 'The Birth of Evil.' In 'Black,' the main character, Thomas Hunter, discovers a strange world which he dreams about when he's asleep. This world contains tribal people that live in a colorful forest, with strange creatures and plant life. There are multiple forests of different kinds in this world, including a black forest in which lives an evil species of bat-like creatures. The black forest and the colored forest are separated by a river, which acts like an impenetrable barrier to the evil creatures. Thomas later discovers that this strange dream world is actually an alternate reality. The wounds he gets in that world carry over to this world, and vice versa. Thomas then believes that if he dies there, he dies here, and if he dies here, he dies there. In his dream world, the modern times we live in now are referred to as 'the histories.' The problem is that the histories tell of a deadly terrorist plot that nearly wipes out the Earth's population. The book follows Thomas's struggle to warn the modern Bluffer Movie Weekend Recap Endless Love- Alex Pettyfer, Gabriella Wilde RoboCop- Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman Labor Day- Josh Brolin, Kate Winslet The Lego Movie- Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks The Monuments Men- George Clooney, Matt Da mon Good book in the series, original environments! imaginable is to deny oneself the fact of the matter. The truth lies within my personal experiences which consist of first being thoroughly impressed by these dance movements, to being left with nothing but the desire to, quite frankly, leave. The solution to this problem may simply be to create diversity within the music, which typically lends different styles of dancing to fit the genre. The evolution from the sound from 8th grade dances and the music that resides within senior dances has been slow and monotonous. Let the music grow as we have! A good DJ understands that as they must please the majority, they also must not forget the few who still enjoy disco, classic rock, punk rock, etc. The revolution dwells within the music. side stor y that tells the stor y of a boy and his father who created this Lego land and the str uggles they have tr ying to bond with one another. This unexpected but sweet side stor y adds depth and emotion to what's expected to be simple plot. The movie also has amazing animation and proves to really be Lego oriented, considering the majority of the f ilm is literally Legos from the ground up. The humor and constant voice over cameos makes this movie enter taining from star t to f inish and could possibly be one of the only movies that if not fun for the whole family at least tolerable for the whole family. Overall, The Lego movie was fun and exciting with brilliant animation, with humor to f it all ages and an emotional side stor y that leaves you feeling unexpectedly touched. Fun for the whole family!!! The wonderful, classy, elegant Winter Formal; these are some of the words that would be used to describe Red Bluff High's February dance. Truthfully it looks extravagant, while the line is forming to get in. All of your friends dressed as best they can in tuxedos, bow ties, dresses; it's like a social gathering of pimps. Unfortunately, though, once you get inside, you start to see the true colors. The DJ plays terrible music, there is no ventilation of air, the heat is trapped in the room, and the most controversial topic, grinding, was the highlight of the night for the majority of students. This style of dancing was the only existent form found in the almost threatening ball of young adults in the middle of the dance floor, lending no space for talent; just raw, sweaty, non- ventilated body rubbing.
