RED BLUFF 2011 33 Crawdad Festival Battle for Dog Island Civil War Re-enactment Red Bluff Bull & Gelding Sale Downtown Christmas Parade Western Open Fiddle Championships Some of the finest fiddlers of all ages and backgrounds gather at the Western Open Fiddle Championships at the Tehama District Fairground in mid-October. The fiddles have been gathering in Red Bluff for more than a quarter century and the competition is fierce, but friendly. After watching the fid- dling competition, there’s a country dance. And some of the best fiddling can be caught late in the evening as fiddlers jam with each other around their camp- sites at the Fairground. Winners from Red Bluff go on to compete at the nation- al contest in Weiser, Idaho. The fun starts days before the competition, as fiddlers spontaneously meet at sponsoring businesses all over town to show off their musical talent.
