GBDC: UGLY SWEATER PARTY AT GHOSTBAR Grandma didn't knit all that ugly for no reason! You can finally get some mileage out of the awful cardigan she sent last winter at GBDC, which will get in the holiday spirit this Saturday to hideous effect. And if she sent a matching beanie and mittens, well, wear those, too. DJs on duty include Mark Stylz and Presto One. STELLAR AT LIGHT Need a low-stress night of boogie before the New Year's calendar has you fighting for dancefloor space (and air)? This would be a good opportunity to not only take in the Cirque du Soleilassisted festivities at Light before the big weekendand-then-some, but also check out our own producer/ DJ Stellar, who began his Vegas ascendancy by pulling double duty on Saturdays at Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto night and Artisan afterhours. December 20, 10 p.m., $30 men, $20 women. CAKE THE HALLS AT BODY ENGLISH Nothing says "happy holidays" like booze and baked goods, right? Festival producers Insomniac announced EDC Mexico last week, which debuts in Mexico City March 15 and 16, 2014. This is the second international location following EDC London in July. XS went viral with its recently released, 360-degree interactive video taped during Kaskade's Halloween night set. The filming used state-of-the-art recording and playback technology to allow viewers to jump around to various parts of the venue (DJ booth included). Check it out at Speaking of Wynn nightlife, more than 200 staffers from XS and Tryst donated $190,698 in toys to KLUC Morning Zoo's toy drive, benefiting HELP of Southern Nevada, even buying out all 250 bikes at one local Wal-Mart. Meanwhile, close to 100 employees from MGM Grand's Hakkasan worked with Three Square Food bank last week to pack nearly 12,000 meals for children and seniors. Hakkasan will also donate $5 to the organization for every restaurant patron served in December. It's already time to start thinking about pool parties, especially if you're looking for a job at one. Encore Beach Club announced that it begins casting for cocktail servers, bartenders, security and more January 21 and 22 at Encore Theater. Finally, a quick correction to last week's "News & Notes." The Bank will be open December 19-22, so if you need a place to party through the week, consider yourself invited. –Jorge Labrador SAMI BEIGI AT TAO This event at the enduring bistro/party palace is the second of a five-night marathon organized by a group of local promoters hailing from the Persian community. And while some of the 14th annual 702 Parties events piggyback on an existing booking by adding a Persian supporting/featured act, the Tao bash gives Iranian pop singer Sami Beigi headliner status. December 22, 10 p.m., $45. NAUGHTY OR NICE PARTY AT REVOLVER Santa has already checked his list twice—what side did you fall on this year? Did we mention ladies score $1 drinks until 11 p.m.? December 25, doors at 8 p.m., free. EDC PHOTOGRAPH BY STEVE MARCUS 12/17/13 2:39 PM
