Readers Choice 2013 –
Your votes,your awards
We asked you, our
readers, to select your
favorite local businesses,
and you responded – in a
big way.
More than 30,000 votes
were cast in the Sentinel's Readers Choice 2013
awards, which spanned
some 150 categories and
included businesses from
Watsonville to Bonny
Doon and all points in between.
In this, our second annual Readers Choice contest, we not only asked
readers to vote for their
favorites, but to nominate
them as well. This is your
contest and we wanted
you to tell us who your
favorites are. For the
most part, the ballot was
your ballot (we did take
out the plumber who was
nominated for best salon
and the financial advisor
who somehow ended up
in the brewpub section).
The voting ran the full
range of possibilities – we
had ties and we had categories that drew hundreds of votes, with the
winners being decided by
just a handful of ballots.
And in some cases, categories were dominated
by businesses that have
developed such strong
brand recognition that
they are the indisputable
leaders of local commerce.
