REAL ESTATE NEWS Solar Nexus B LT Steak will soon be serving its distinctive French bistro–style American steakhouse fare inside Bally's Las Vegas. ESquared Hospitality (e2hospitality.com) debuted its flagship restaurant in Manhattan in 2004, and it quickly became known for its elegant but relaxed vibe, perfect for power meetings. Vegas has already had a taste of chef Laurent Tourondel's growing BLT empire: The steakhouse, scheduled to open in early 2014, builds on the success of BLT Burger, which opened inside The Mirage in 2008. "The Las Vegas market has embraced the BLT brand," says Jimmy Haber, ESquared Hospitality's managing partner. "The hotel's central location and accessibility to visitors staying up and down the Strip made it a natural choice for a BLT Steak." The restaurant will occupy the former Bally's Steakhouse, with the space expanded to more than double its size. The swanky main 184-seat dining room is more formal than the casual BLT Burger, with rich wood and polished stainless steel finishes and the tables placed around a central fireplace. Two private dining rooms will seat 10 and 12 guests. Marnell Companies, the firm behind Bellagio and Wynn Las Vegas, is building the restaurant, a key step in the revitalization of Bally's, which includes the renovation of the 756-room Jubilee tower and the addition of the Celine Dion– produced show Véronic Voices. Chocolate junkies will be able to satisfy their sweet tooth to excess when the new 13,654-square-foot Hershey's Chocolate World comes to New York-New York this winter. The chocolatier will occupy the resort's front-door space along the Strip, enticing visitors with a mouthwatering 18-foot-tall replica of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, as well as a towering 64-foot Hershey's Milk Chocolate bar and entrances shaped like Hershey's Kisses. The interactive attraction will be the company's largest venue after its theme park in Pennsylvania. Customers will be able to customize their own Hershey's candy wrappers and personalize the foil plumes for Hershey's Kisses. New York-New York is removing two retail stores and will locate Hershey's Chocolate World between the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge, as part of an update to the resort's pedestrian area along the Strip. Mandalay Bay is flexing its green thumb by adding a 6.2-megawatt photovoltaic array atop its three-level, 1.7-million-square-foot convention center at 3950 South Las Vegas Boulevard. Built in partnership with the solar power developer NRG Solar, this will be the country's second-largest rooftop solar photovoltaic array, with 20,000 panels generating enough energy for 1,000 homes. The project is expected to produce nearly 20 percent of Mandalay Bay's power during peak production hours, lowering the demand on Southern Nevada's electrical grid at the hottest time of the day. Owner MGM Resorts International chose the convention center for a photovoltaic array due to its large sun-oriented roof, which spans roughly 20 acres. With its lush parks, wide-open spaces, world-class golf course, and shopping, Southern Highlands is just minutes from the Strip. Lennar may cater to single families, but the real buzz surrounds its Next Gen floor plan: a homewithin-a-home layout designed for multigenerational living. Your own compound is now within reach.
