Chicago native David Gomez will showcase his city at 2013 USHCC National Convention Por Don Milazzo By Don Milazzo " I proudly and humbly want to welcome everyone to the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's (USHCC) 34th Annual National Convention here in the Windy City," said David P . Gomez, USHCC Convention Board Chair and President & CEO of David Gomez & Associates, Inc. (DG&A). David was first retained by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2008 to manage the chamber's search for a new top executive; that effort culminated with the appointment of current CEO and President Javier Palomarez. In the past five years, David has sat on the chamber's Board of Directors Executive Committee and has previously served as a Regional Committee Chairman, Finance Chair, and Nominations & Governance Chair. As he has continued working to strengthen the organization and its activities, being appointed as this year's Convention Board Chair in his hometown was the natural next step. For the first time in more than 20 years, the USHCC will hold its annual event in Chicago, and Gomez is doing everything possible to ensure a memorable conference and provide an opportunity for all attendees to embrace everything Chicago has to offer. "I'm a native son of Chicago, so I wanted to be sure that we properly showcase the city to a national audience, while hosting the Empresario de Chicago dirige Convención Nacional de USHCC 2013 Photo Brian Morowczynski David Gomez, CEO of David Gomez & Associates, Inc., is the 34th USHCC Convention Board Chair. biggest and best event for anyone trying to get involved in the Latino business market," says the founder, CEO and president of David Gomez & Associates Inc., a retained search firm. The event will be held Sept. 15-17 at the Chicago Hilton. Gomez recruited dozens of local business leaders to the Convention's Host Committee in order to help drive attendance, sponsorship, media, marketing and other key aspects. He reached out to major attractions in the city to help ensure that visitors enjoy themselves. Together, he and the Host Committee will be on-call 24/7 throughout the Convention to maximize the attendees' experiences. "We've asked everyone to help roll out the red carpet and give attendees plenty of options before and after the conference," Gomez says. Immigration reform is likely to be a hot topic of discussion among convention goers this year, given the momentum building among the populace and at the highest levels of government. In May, the USHCC and the White House cohosted the first-ever Hispanic Business Leaders' Forum to discuss immigration reform, job creation, access to capital, innovation, and other pressing issues. Gomez believes the USHCC has afforded attendees the opportunity to embrace the global community at the Convention. These three days will serve as a platform for visitors to engage in dialogue as well as elevate how they listen and learn from each other. As a long-time Chicagoan and business owner, his wish for this conference is to inspire and extract genius at the highest level with the hope of showcasing the best of the best and provide a springboard for others to enlighten strategies for business and personal pursuits. Founded in Chicago in 1978, David Gomez & Associates, Inc. provides leadership consulting and succession planning in addition to retained search services. Despite a tough economic climate, the company has consistently increased its revenue from year to year. Gomez attributes that success to their unique, proprietary search process and utilizing an inclusive search methodology while still first and foremost providing the best and brightest candidates. He also focuses his attention on industries and companies that are mindful of the value of diversity for an organization's vitality, creativity, and success.
