Leonhardt noted the Burns community came to the school to greet them upon their return. "It was great seeing people come out to just cheer our re- turn," said Coach Leon- hardt. For Coach Leonhardt, who is a 1994 Burns grad- uate, it is his sixth year as head coach of the Bull- dogs. "I have coached base- ball at Burns for 13 years. I have taught almost all the history courses and I am currently teaching PE," he added. Additionally, he is the Assistant Athletic Director and an Accred- ited Interscholastic Coach (USA Heads Up Football Coach). From the BHS baseball Facebook page comes this quote from Cleveland County Sheriff Alan Nor- man and his staff and offi- cers, "Sheriff Alan Norman and the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office would like to congratulate the Burns High School Bulldogs Baseball team for winning the NCHSAA 2A State Championship! Way to go!" ListentoLife.org LISTEN TO LIFE by Dr. Joey Faucette What are some things you just can't imagine your mother ever saying? Would your mother ever say, "Let's eat dessert fi rst tonight and leave off the broccoli"? Or, "How on earth can you see the TV sitting so far back? Move up closer"? Or, "Sure, sweetheart, bring home any dog you want and I'll be more than happy to take care of him for you"? Would your mother ever say something like, "Well, if Laura's mother said it's okay by her, then of course you can go!"? Or, "You know, curfew is just kind of a guideline, a target time to shoot for. Don't get too hung up on it. This is a home, not a prison."? Or, "Look, how many times do I have to tell you? When you don't have a tissue, just wipe your nose on your sleeve." There are some things you can't imagine your mother saying. For everything else she said, that you now ap- preciate, show her some love as you make a life worth living today. What did your mother say? 5 TRACTOR - TRAILER TRUCKLOAD MATTRESS SALE 704-482-9832 Fax Store Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9:00am - 6:00pm Cummings Furniture Company Cummings Furniture Company 410 W. Have questions? Cleveland Community College is excited to an- nounce Shelby Police Department's retired chief (and Kings Mountain na- tive) Jeff Ledford, has joined the Yeti family. Ledford assumed the role of director of safety and security at the College on June 1. "One of the draws to being here is the repu- tation of the College," said Ledford, "and the team that I have the opportunity to work with." Ledford retired from the Shelby Police Depart- ment on March 31, after serving the community 30 years as an officer, includ- ing 15 as chief. The Kings Mountain native and cur- rent resident has always focused on community and relationships. Start- ing his next chapter at CCC, he said, allows him to serve in a different way. "It's a great opportunity to continue serving the com- munity. The College is a place where I can con- tinue to use my relation- ships and experience, just on a different level." He will lead a small team of part-time secu- rity officers, and work with Shelby Police Officer Ryan Laughlin who serves as the College's SRO. "We are focused on the safety and security of the students and employees of Cleveland Community College," said CCC Presi- dent Dr. Jason Hurst. "That's why I'm excited to welcome former chief Ledford to our team. His knowledge and experi- ence will be a great asset to our efforts."
