He was born on March 23, 1967, in Munich, Germany while his father was serving in the army. Mel lived a full and happy life and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Mel worked as a carpenter for Fulton Interiors for over 25 years and was a member of the Carpenter's Union 224. He completed a 4-year carpenter apprenticeship which earned him an associate degree in carpentry. His love for his job was evident in the quality of his work and his dedication to his craft as well as the mentorship he showed to many. In addition to his work, Mel had many passions in life, including hunting, fishing, camping, four wheeling, and motorcycle racing. He loved visiting the Bayou River Camp and North Carolina, and he cherished every moment he spent with his wife, Penny, who sadly preceded him in death after 35 years of marriage. Mel was also a 1985 gradu- ate of Bosse High School and a Catholic, having been baptized into the faith in 2002. Mel was a loving and pro- tective family man, who adored his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his parents, Mel Viner, Sr. and Patricia Viner; his siblings, Brandon (Paula) Viner and Heather (Chris) Brown; his daughters, Amber (Jamie) Dumanski and Brandi (DJ Wright) Barrett; his four grandchildren, Mason and Connor Dumanski and Emilynn and Meleah Wright; and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Mel's loyal dog Benny was also a constant com- panion and source of his joy. Mel was a kind and gener- ous person, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved hard and will be remembered for his caring and protective spirit as well as his playful bantering and jokes. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12-4 PM, Satur- day, April 15, 2023, at Van- derburgh County 4-H Center's Building #1 with a brief hon- oring of Mel at 3:30 and toast at 4. Please join us for lunch and Mel's celebration. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Vanderburgh Humane Society in Mel's memory. Arrangements are being handled by Stodghill Funeral Home. James "Marshall" Wilson Owensville James "Marshall" Wilson, 62, of Owensville, IN, passed away at his home on April 10, 2023. He was born to James Patrick and Mary Rita (Hayden) Wilson on August 24, 1960, in Evansville, IN. Marshall was baptized catholic. After high school, he entered the United States Navy. He married his lovely wife, Deborah Leister in 1984, and they had 3 beautiful children. He worked in Industrial Mainte- nance at Deaconess Midtown in Evansville, IN for 33 years and retired in January of 2023. He was a member of the American Legion post #0008 and the VFW. He enjoyed golfing, bass fishing, watching NASCAR and racing, and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He also enjoyed spending time with friends at the Nisbet Inn. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years, Deborah Wilson; father, James Patrick Wilson; sisters, Anita Wilson and Carol Schmitt; and brother, Jeff Wilson. Marshall is survived by his sons, Zack Wilson of Mt. Ver- non, IN, Alex Wilson of Marked Tree, AK, and Ian Wilson of Evansville, IN; mother, Mary Rita Wilson of Evansville, IN; siblings, Gary (Pam) Wilson of Stewartsville, IN, Patsy (Billy) Lewis of Wadesville, IN, and Laura (Dino) Sollman of Haub- stadt, IN; grandchildren, Faith and Violet Wilson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN with Pastor Bob Douglas officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Satur- day, April 15, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Carol Jean Welch Fort Branch Carol Jean Welch, 80, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN, on Monday, April 10, 2023. She was born to the late George and Aleda (Welman) Heuring on February 16, 1943, in Fort Branch, IN. Carol was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Branch. She was a seam- stress and as the floral designer, having worked for Buehlor's IGA in Princeton, IN, as the flo- ral manager for several years. In her free time, she enjoyed writ- ing poetry, drawing, gardening, floral design, visiting friends in the nursing homes and spending time with her family. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Victor Lee Welch and her sister, Joy Ann Meyer. She is survived by her sons; Michael Ray Welch of Fort Branch, IN and Scott Andrew (Kelli) Welch of Newburgh, IN; sister, Barbara Heuring of Fort Branch, IN; grandchildren, Casey Allen Welch, Joseph Pierzakowski, and Danielle Pierzakowski; and nieces, Darla Joy and Lisa Ann. Funeral services will be on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch with Pastor Ricky Simpson officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 16, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gentryville, IN.
