Sat. 8/3 Chenango Summer Jam Noon-9:30 p.m. Free East Side Park, Norwich chenangosummerjam.org Summer Jam is like the cool little brother of the Chenango Blues Fest. He may not be captain of the football team or even have his driver's license yet, but he's still a pretty rad dude. The second annual Summer Jam brings back Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad at the head of a diverse lineup of acts, all free of charge. Beer and food round out the family-friendly event. Sat. 8/10 Rock in the Park 2013 10 a.m. $15 | $20 General Clinton Park, Bainbridge facebook.com/rockinthepark2012 You know those annoying guys who think it's funny to shout "Play some Skynyrd!" at any concert they go to? Well, at this year's Rock in the Park benefit concert, that request will probably be honored. Headlining the benefit for the Chenango County Toys for Tots program is the Artimus Pyle Band, fronted by one of the only survivors of the 1977 plane crash that killed Ronnie Van Zant and two other members of Lynyrd Skynyrd. The group will be joined by local bands Woodshed Prophets and Tumbleweed Highway.   Fri. 8/16-Sun. 8/1 Shakespeare Times Two Shakespeare aficionados will find double the pleasure this month, with the Franklin Stage Company's production of 'A Winter's Tale' running Wednesdays-Sundays from Aug. 16-Sept. 1, and the Cooperstown Theatre Festival's production of 'The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged' in reprise Aug. 23-25. The former is a more straightforward, if still unique, take on the Bard's work; the latter is an unconventional, zany, Monty Python-esque parody. See calendar for more info about each.   Fri. 8/23, Sat. 8/24 Comedy in the Catskills: Harrison Greenbaum (Fri.) and Rita Rudner (Sat.) 8 p.m. $25-$66 Belleayre Mountain 181 Galli Curci Road, Highmount When the Catskills were still known as the "Borscht Belt," comedy was a mainstay at the summer resorts that drew vacationers from downstate. At Belleayre Mountain, the "Comedy in the Catskills" mini-series brings a 21st-century twist to this tradition, with rising comedy star Harrison Greenbaum on Friday and Las Vegas Comedian of the Year Rita Rudner's popular show on Saturday. 28 O-Town Scene August 1, 2013 Updates can also be found at www.thedailystar.com under the 'Calendar' link.
