Jim Koury is a seeker of personal truth, and desires to empower oth- ers to find their own personal truth, whatever it may be. He is also an ac vist who is not afraid to speak his mind, and ruffle some feath- ers, if necessary. His main objec ve is to get people to think and think for themselves. He espouses Aristotle's mantra, "It is the mark of an educated mind to en- tertain a thought without accep ng it." Jim does not force his views on others but just puts them out there for folks to think about and discard if they wish. Welcome to the October issue of Diversity Rules Magazine. Can you believe it is Octo- ber already? Time is flee ng by. We carry on and do our best, though! This month's feature is not an interview but an ar cle on a new, innova ve LGBTQ owned and operated therapy pla orm called, "LG- BTQ Therapy Space." Jake Myers is the founder and CEO of LGBTQ Therapy Space, the first LGBTQ-owned and operated online therapy pla orm designed for LGBTQ+ clients. A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who recently relocated from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale, Florida when his own prac ce moved online, My- ers is dedicated to providing an affirma ve and welcoming space for LGBTQ+ individuals and couples to navigate life's challenges. He graduated from An och University Los Ange- les with a master's degree in clinical psychol- ogy and a specializa on in LGBT Affirma ve Psychotherapy. Myers writes a column, "Ask Jake," for Queerty, in addi on to other men- tal health-related topics. LGBTQ Therapy Space, the first LGBTQ-owned and operated na onal online therapy plat- form designed specifically for the LGBTQ+ community, launched on August 31st. The pla orm connects LGBTQ+ clients seeking quality individual or couples counseling ser- vices with local licensed therapists who have first-hand knowledge of LGBTQ+ challenges and experiences. The user-friendly online pla orm provides an authen c, judgment-free space to help cli- ents navigate a wide variety of challenges, in- cluding issues that dispropor onately affect members of the LGBTQ+ community such as anxiety, depression and substance abuse. As usual, there are plenty of other great ar- cles and features of interest in this month's issue. I hope you enjoy it all. See you in November, as we barrel toward the holidays, and the end of this turbulent 2021. We can only hope next year brings bet- ter news and more stability to all our lives.
