He has served in the Army for 22 years and is currently on assignment to Fort Bliss, Texas, to attend the U.S. Army Sergeant Major Academy. He is the son of William and Regina Spencer of Nitro. He is married to CW3 Somjai Ashford and they have five children and two grandchildren. In this photo, Gen. Robert W. Cone, commanding general of Army Training and Doctrine Command, presents a Certificate of Appreciation to Spencer for his hard work with this year's Combined Federal Campaign on Feb. 8, 2013, at TRADOC headquarters, Fort Eustis, Va. SSG Beth Kerns is the daughter of CW4 Francis M. Kerns. She retired from the W.Va. Army National Guard as a Sergeant First Class with almost 25 years of service. This photo was taken while she was attending Non-Commissioned Officer School at Camp Dawson in 1981. Cpt. David McMillan is the grandson of CW4 Francis M. Kerns. He is currently the Unit Commander of the 119th Sapper Co., W.Va. Army National Guard in Moundsville. This photo was taken during a Polaris Basic Safety Certification Course at the Center for National Response at the Memorial Tunnel on the W.Va. Turnpike. In this photograph of W.Va. Air National Guard members returning to Charleston from Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm deployment in April 1991, CMS Danny Harper returns a jacket he borrowed from his son, Adam, who was in high school then. Adam is now a TSOT/Crew Chief with the W.Va. Air National Guard and has served overseas many times, including Operation Iraqi Freedom and in Afghanistan. With them to the side is Vietnam veteran Louie Harper, Danny's brother, who served in the Navy. 1st Lt. Stephen L. Bruner (3rd from left) is pictured with his platoon Sergeant and Squad Leaders attending a formal event at the United States Military Academy at West Point in May 2013. Bruner is stationed at Ft. Drum, N.Y., as part of the 10th Mountain Division of the Army. Bruner is from Charleston, and is pursuing a master's degree. Curtis Evans, the son of Eli and Betty Evans, is seen marching in the "Welcome Home" parade in this photograph from April 1991 when West Virginia Air National Guard members returned from Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Curtis' continuing service includes Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and in Afghanistan. Sp4 Tony Sutherland, of Hurricane, was an Army Medic. This photo was taken in 1986 in Germany. Airman Dan Jennings, a graduate of Air Force BMT, Lackland Air Force Base, May 2013 Army Capt. Rachel Morgan is stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., serving as a Military Police officer. Marine Sgt. Samuel Schrader, 3rd Recon, Battalion 0317, Scout Sniper, and wife Brittany, of Heaters. Sgt. L.T. Eskew, of Elkview, was a member of the 151st Military Police Battalion, W.Va. Army National Guard. He served in the Army and is an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran.
