William (Blake) Wheeler, the grandson of William (Bill) Atkins of Nitro, is a member of the 2878th BTroop Cavalry Unit in the Clarksville, Tenn, Army National Guard. He graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, S.C., in July 2011 and completed his Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Va., graduating second in his class. He currently serves as a Supply Specialist/Armorer in the Guard, where is he studying Business Management and working for FedEx. This photograph of H. Carl Morris, Master Chief Petty Officer (Ret.), Navy, of Mount Nebo, was taken while he was serving as a military adviser with the River Patrol Group at Phu Chuong, Vietnam, in 1970. Pfc. Zachariah David Westmoreland, of Ravenswood, served with the 2-7 Infantry Division of the Army, stationed at Fort Stewart, Ga. He returned from Fort Stewart on May 25, 2013, after being deployed to Afghanistan for eight months. Hospitalman Hali Moll is shown re-enlisting for another four years. Moll is with the Family Practice Clinic of the Naval Hospital and Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla. Spc. E4 Wesley Lee Sigman Jr., of Charleston, has served with the Army National Guard 1-150th ARS B Troop, including deployment in Iraq in 2009. MSgt. David W. Anderson, of Kenna, served with the 130th Airlift Wing during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. This photograph was taken on board a C-130H at Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina, in 1992. CW3 Eric E. Thomas, of St. Albans (formerly of Chesapeake), serves with the U.S. Army Reserves, Cross Lanes detachment. A graduate of East Bank High School and West Virginia University Institute of Technology, he is on his third tour of duty, currently in Afghanistan. This photo was taken in Kuwait during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Marine Sgt. E5 Vasilios Dianellos of Charleston. Staff Sgt. Christopher Saltsgaver is with the 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg, N.C., deployed in 2012. The son of Ross and Barbara Saltsgaver of East Bank, he is pictured with his brother, Scott Saltsgaver. Chief Master Sgt. William D. Martin Sr., of Belle, served with the 130th AW, W.Va. Air National Guard and with the Air Force during Operation Desert Storm. Marine Maj. Robert Ferguson, of Charleston, served with the 7th Motor Transport Battalion, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. This photo was taken Feb. 24, 1991, the first day of the ground war, Operation Desert Storm, at the Al Wahfa oil fields in Kuwait. Army National Guard 1Lt. Jeanette N. Gooch serves with the 1092nd Engineering Battalion Forward Support Company, Army National Guard, Point Pleasant, as the executive officer.
