Senior Airman William Corey Wilson is a member of the 130th Airlift Wing, Charleston. Wilson is a member of the Security Forces Unit, which recently returned home after a sixmonth deployment to Afghanistan. During the tour, his unit was hit by an IED. Wilson received the Purple Heart for his injuries while serving in Afghanistan, along with various other awards. He is from Ansted. Cpt. Matthew M. Bruner is pictured with his wife, Lauren, at the 158 Inf. Brigade Ball in 2013. Cpt. Bruner is a 2008 honors graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. Cpt. Bruner served in Iraq in 2010. He is with the U.S. Army's 3rd Inf. Division. Cpt. Bruner and Lauren are from Charleston. W01 Dennis Bucklew was killed in action at age 21 in August 1971 while performing the duty of helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He served in the AV branch of the Army. Pvt. Russell Smith Sr., of Elkview, served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. Russell Smith Jr., of Charleston, served in the Air Guard. Buck Sgt. Kenneth Allen Poe III, of Winifrede, served in the Air Force from August 1985 to April 1990. He now lives in Ripley. Sgt. Vincent Sundstrom served in the Army in the 1940s. He received the Exceptionally Meritorious Conduct Award in 1944. Nick Cassis served in the Army in World War II. This 1943 photo was taken in Kentucky. James Lee Bell Jr., Air Force. Sgt. Charles M. Conner Jr. served in the Air Force in Thailand during the Vietnam War in 1969. He served for four years and now resides in Florida. A1C John Andrew Bell served in the Air Force Military Police from 1964 to 1968 at Shoesterberg Air Force Base. Spec. 4 James Lee Bell Sr. served in the Army from 1968 to 1970. E3 Nicholas Hess, of Buffalo, graduated from Navy Boot Camp on June 14, 2013 and is currently in A-School in Goose Creek, S.C., for Nuclear (MM).
