BY MEG MATHIS S ince opening in 2010, Deca Restaurant + Bar has tantalized guests with stone's-throw views of its towering neighbor, the John Hancock Center. Now, the Ritz-Carlton restaurant is ready to let patrons get even more up close and personal with the skyline thanks to its latest addition: The Dec Rooftop Lounge + Bar. Designed for relaxation and intimate conversation, the 57-seat terrace spills out into Streeterville with a waved LED wall and The Lenz, a circular sculpture by artist David Sorenson that serves as the lounge's focal point. In true Ritz-Carlton fashion, the atmosphere is undeniably elegant, with a menu that's both sophisticated (think whole Maine lobster, plus watermelon with goat cheese and pistachios) and downright playful, with balsamic strawberry and orange Creamsicle sundaes dished out from an ice-cream cart by Deca pastry chef Eric Estrella. Late afternoon welcomes throwback snacks like "Ritz" crackers with parmesan and truffle honey, or salted pretzel and milk chocolate push-pops; and a tempting creative cocktail list that includes libations such as the spicy Burro del Diablo, with tequila, cassis, lime juice, ginger beer, and mole bitters, perfect for sipping while savoring the view on a gorgeous Chicago summer night.
