The Family of Mary Louise Hartke DONALD EDWARD CARTER Donald Edward Carter, 92, of Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at his home. He was born December 18, 1928, in Pike County, to Floyd and Vada (Bradfield) Carter. He married Dessie C. Carter on September 30, 1947, He served in the U.S. Army, and worked as a truck driver for Buchta Trucking, and lat- er worked for Pike County Sol- id Waste. He is survived by his three children, Ron Carter, Brenda (Michael) Wilson and Patty Ayala; six grandchildren, Su- san (Bryan) Sluder, Michael (Dana) Wilson, Penny (Rod) Myers, JR (Danielle) Carter, Kevin (Shawna) Carter and Ray Ayala; 13 great-grandchil- dren, Alli (Eric) Betz, Shelby Meadows, Matthew Meadows, Guy Myers, Brooke Myers, Bo Myers, Jeff (Kacey) Wil- son, Megan ( Jamen) Freder- ick, Dominick Smith, Bethany Carter, Braden Wilson, Nate Carter and Cody Carter; and three great-great-grandchil- dren, Carter Wilson, Lilly Wil- son and Owen Wilson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dessie C. Carter, on August 7, 2013; and a sister, Zelma Dean Pauw. Funeral services were on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at O.D. Online condolences may be made at odharrisfuneralhome. com. DIXIE JEAN FORD Dixie Jean Ford, 90, of Princeton, entered rest on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Deaconess Hospital in New- burgh. She was born on Oct. 31, 1930, in Pike County, to Lloyd and Nora (Rumble) Bush. She had worked at Potter and Brumfield in Princeton for 37 years. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her fam- ily. She and her husband of 38 years, Doyne, were always hauling grands and great- grands somewhere. They nev- er missed a school program, ballgame, birthday, prom or JOHN ROBB John Robb, 76, of Hazleton, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Deaconess Gib- son Hospital in Princeton. He was born February 6, 1945, in Hazleton, to Orvel and Eva Robb. He had lived in Hazleton all of his life. He retired from Siemans, formerly Potter and Brumfield, where he worked from 1963 to 1994 as a pro- duction manager. He enjoyed working on cars, NASCAR stock car racing and NHR A drag racing. He coached youth sports, baseball and basket- ball. He was quite fond of his cats, which he enjoyed having around. He is survived by his son, Jon (Bobbi) Robb of Robards, Ky.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Frederick, of Hazleton; two brothers, Don (Lana) Robb, of Hazleton, and Jay Robb, of Petersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Suetta Robb, in 2011; brothers, Lee Stiles, Tom, Tim, Dan, Orvil and James Robb; and sisters, Margaret Hopkins and Betty Sanders. Nixon, 89, of Winslow, passed away Sun- day, April 4, 2021, at Dea- coness Midtown Hospital in Evansville. He was born February 12, 1932, in Winslow, to Malcolm and Bertha (Gore) Nixon. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He had lived in the Winslow area all of his life and owned his own excavat- ing business. He was a mem- ber of the Eagles of Oakland City, the American Legion of Oakland City and the Mason- ic Lodge. He is survived by his daugh- ters, Christine (Tim) Win- kler of Philpot, Ky., and Cin- dy Lowery, of South Dako- ta; son, Les ( Julie) Nixon, of Winslow; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Giselle) Johnson, Ja- son (Kristi) Winkler, Jesse (Nicole) Nixon, Josh Barnett and Lindsey (Travis) Nixon; and 12 great-grandchildren. EDWARD "LEE" PETRY Edward "Lee" Petry, 62, of Winslow, passed away at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at home. He was born in Hunting- burg on April 2, 1959, to Ed- ward and Irene (Patton) Petry. He married Darlinda Bieker on July 14, 1979, in Salem Unit- ed Methodist Church in Hunt- ingburg. He worked in body work for more than 40 years, and most recently at Indiana Furniture in Jasper. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, restoring old cars and spend- ing time with family. He is survived by his wife, Darlinda Petry, of Winslow; five children, Melissa (Dave) VanWinkle, of St. Meinrad, Jennifer (Danny) Blount, of Petersburg, Edward "Little Lee" Petry, of Otwell, Mary Petry, of Winslow, and Ashley ( Willie) Montgomery, of Pe- tersburg; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter on the way; two sisters, Donna ( John) Brown, of Otwell, and Linda Martindale, of Malters- ville; four brothers, Mike Pet- ry, of St. Anthony, Bill Petry, of St. Anthony, David (Lynn) Petry, of Birdseye, and Keith (Tammy) Petry, of Evansville. NINA MAY MATHIAS Nina May Mathias, 58, of Huntingburg, passed away at 2:18 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born June 5, 1962, in Boise, Idaho, to Jack Lee and Rae Inez ( Webster) Bell. She married David Wayne Mathias on July 21, 1984, at the Church of the Nazarene in Huntingburg. She worked as a desk clerk at the Best Western Hotel. She was a member of the Faith Community Church of the Nazarene in Hunting- burg. She loved music, dogs, horses and spending time by the ocean. She was preceded in death by her mother; and two sisters, Debbie and Trina. She is survived by her hus- band, David Wayne Mathi- as, of Huntingburg; two chil- dren, Heather (Kurt) Hoing and David (Amanda) Mathi- as, both of Huntingburg; her father, Jack Lee (Diane) Bell, of Friendsville, Ill.; two sib- lings, Bill ( Valerie) Bell, of Smiley, Texas, and Shirley Bell, of Winslow; three step- brothers, Rick, Tim and Mark Dyer; nieces and nephews; and two grandchildren. Condolences may be shared online at nassandson.com. MARY COLLEEN KEY Mary Colleen (Hudson) Key, 85, passed away at 10 :25 p.m. on April 4, 2021, at the Villages of Oak Ridge. She was born on July 5, 1935, in Montgomery, to Er- nest and Estella (Clements) Hudson. She graduated from Mont- gomery High school and worked for Farm Bureau Co- op for over twenty years. In 1978, she married William F. Key and they were happily to- gether until his death in 2005. They retired together to Pe- tersburg and then Jasper. In both places, she was an avid quilter, a member of the Red Hat Club, a regular bridge player, and an active volun- teer in many community and church groups. She is survived by her cous- ins; nieces; nephew; step- niece; stepchildren, Suzanne (Mark) Colvin and Michael (Susan) Key; and many grand- children and great-grandchil- dren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Key; stepdaughter, Teresa Sartin; and brother, Ralph Hudson. He was born September 17, 1949, in Lafayette, to Howard and Dorothy (Pelfree) Elkins. He served as a Staff Sargent in the United States Air Force from 1972-1975. Following his military service, he began his lifetime career in the railroad at Penn Central and retired as an engineer from Amtrak at age 60. He was a "Mr. Fix It" that loved tinkering with tools, collecting train memora- bilia and spoiling his wife with her Christmas treasures from their countless auction trips. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon ( Jochim) El- kins; children, Mike (Tricia) Elkins, of Indianapolis, Tina (Danny) Stone, of Winslow, and Julie ( Jeff ) Morrow, of Marion; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Dianna (Bill) Law, of Phoenix, Ariz. NANCY JOANNE ADAMS Nancy JoAnne (Banas) Ad- ams, 64, of Petersburg, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021, at Golden Living Center in Pe- tersburg. She was born July 10, 1956, in Terre Haute. She married her childhood sweetheart from first grade, Jeff Adams, on June 24, 1995. She attended Paul Schulte High School in Terre Haute, then earned her bachelor's de- gree at Indiana State Universi- ty. She received her master's degree from Purdue and con- tinued her education at Penn State. She taught Foreign Lan- guage at Clinton Central in northern Indiana, LaGrange, Ga., and Switzerland County in southeast Indiana. Finally, she taught Spanish and French at Princeton Community High School for 30 years, where she retired a few years ago. She en- joyed directing theater plays for the high school students. She had been a member of the Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church in Vevay, St. Bernard Snake Run Catholic Church in Fort Branch, St. Joseph Cath- olic Church in Princeton and, most recently, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pe- tersburg. She loved to read, sew, loved animals, and trea- sured family and friends. She always cared about others, was always doing for others and never thought of herself. She is survived by her hus- band, Jeff, of Petersburg; daughter, Alina Adams, of Pe- tersburg; stepson, Cory (Ky- la) Adams, of Westfield, Ind.; one step-grandson; sister, Donna (Tim) McKean, of Pol- land, Ind.; two nieces; and sev- eral aunts and uncles. He was born October 25, 1982, in Evansville, to his lov- ing parents, Kim and Karen (Riddle) VanMeter. He graduated from Wood Memorial High School and continued his education through the Internation- al Union of Operating Engi- neers Local 181 Apprentice- ship Program. He married Ka- tie (Riley) Vanmeter on May 5, 2007, and they were blessed with almost 14 years together. He worked for Operating En- gineers Local 181 for 20 years as a crane operator and recent- ly as a business agent. He en- joyed hunting with his family, sports, and coaching his kids' football and baseball teams. He was an avid gun collector and enthusiast, and enjoyed reloading. He is survived by his wife, Katie VanMeter, of Peters- burg; parents, Kim and Kar- en VanMeter, of Oakland City; his children, Kaden and Kinze VanMeter, of Peters- burg; brother, Ryan (Cassey) VanMeter, of Oakland City; mother and father-in-law, Jan- ice and Lloyd Riley, of Peters- burg; brothers-in-law, David (Kay) Riley, of Petersburg, and Nick (Denee) Riley, of Newburgh; nieces and neph- ews, Ali, Eli, Ashli (Landon), Josh (Alexis), Madison, Mi- Kayla, Cody and Beau; great- niece and great-nephew, Landri and Krew; and sever- al close friends, amazing co- workers and union brothers.
