Poplar Street, Petersburg There are three misconceptions that most peo- ple entertain about the law of God and its Ten Commandments: Most people have a vague notion that the law always was in existence and that it must have been given to the first man, Adam, or soon af- ter. Actually, God gave the law to Moses for Isra- el about 1500 B.C., after about 2500 years of hu- man history had elapsed ( John 1:17). So man- kind lived on earth for about 2500 years without the law or the Ten Commandments. Most people suppose that the law and the Ten Commandments were given to mankind in gen- eral, while, in fact, it was given to Israel alone (Deuteronomy 5:2,3). The 21st Century started with many woes and problems. First, it was 9/11, 2001 and then A fghanistan, Iraq, the Tsunami, earthquakes, Katrina, bombing of the railways in England and Spain, and now Covid-19. These are on- ly a few of the disasters of the past few years. One often wonders if God is trying to send a sin-loving world a message. For years in America we have been telling God to stay out of our lives. It may be that a lov- ing God has heard us speak and backed away. It is only reasonable that God withholds His blessings when we insist that He stay out of our lives. One Christian leader wonders if terrorist attacks, school shootings, etc. may be the re- sult of taking prayer and Bible reading out of our schools. One thing is for sure; God knows He is not welcome in our schools. I cannot help but wonder why lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the public schools and workplace. The elite me- dia criticized president Trump for his strong support for the church and faith-based organi- zations. When God has been ignored and rejected His judgment may come as it did in Old Testament times when Israel re- jected God and turned to idols. Today, our false gods are not golden calves or manmade objects but often greed, pleasure, lust, and political power. When you see evil everyday and hear what terrorists plan to do it brings fear and a feeling of hopelessness. Only a sound faith in Christ can give hope in a hopeless world. God must be saddened when we reject his Son and choose gods of our own making. Stam Hello from the Rambler to you all. Hope you have had a good week and that it was produc- tive for you. Monday I mowed our yard for the first time this season and worked more on the stumps left behind by the power company. Seems like they made the mess they should have cleaned it up since they have the access to better equipment than any of us customers would ever have. The mess I was left with was huge stumps that would easily measure four feet in diameter and are not easy to mess with at all. Got to watch my grandson's t-ball practice again. He did as well as anyone else on his team, although they are not used to what they are sup- posed to be doing but they are catching on. The grandson's coach is doing a marvelous job teach- ing them. I know when I was in little league I knew what to do, but I was afraid I would mess up if I done it and then I would hurt my team. I was like that until one day I took a good swat at the ball and if the shortstop wasn't so athletic I would have easily had a double. Later in the same game I did get a hit and boy was I happy because it was my first hit. I was working on more of the stumps and as I was adjusting my chain I forgot to tighten the bar nuts. As I was cutting my saw came apart while running and I must say it was exciting. I put it back together and this time I tightened every- thing properly and it came apart again. I took my saw back to where I bought it and had them check it to see if I had broken anything. Thank the Lord I hadn't, but the way I had to cut these stumps against the grain I had stretched the chain. With a new chain I was back in business. I blamed this on Covid fog because since I have had the CHURCH CHURCH Notes Notes Notes Baptist Baptist Assembly of God RIVER OF LIFE 342 E.
