Minutes with the Bible By Pastor Ricky Kurth "Does Daniel 12:4 describe the increase in knowledge that we see today? " "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: ma- ny shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." We are living in the time of the mystery (Eph. 3:1-9), not in the time of the fulfillment of prophecy, so nothing in the prophetic book of Daniel describes anything that is going on today. Since the previous verses say that the saved in Israel will rise from the dead (v. 2) and "they that be wise" shall shine in the kingdom of heaven on earth and "turn many to righ- Our culture is losing its way in sexual dark- ness. The church and parents should make clear the guidelines for sexual activity before marriage. It should be discussed on the im- portance of integrity, purity and honoring God. There is much talk about safe sex and the new HPV vaccine. The decisions regarding teen sex should be made by the parents and God's Word and not in Washington, D.C. The liberal media and political leaders on the left oppose all plans that promote absti- nence for teenagers. Programs like "True Love Waits" have been successful among many religious teens. Today even our chil- dren are targeted by T V and the Hollywood crowd. They are told to do what ever you like with no warnings about disease, broken lives and a damaged future. Often too late, young people regret the empty promise of casual sex. The fruit of the sexual revolution has been rot- ten with heartache and bitter memories. It's not prudish to say "no" but a way to respect yourself and honor God. I recall a half century ago proph- ets of the sexual revolu- tion went mainstream. They talked about free love and fulfillment. Many of those who par- ticipated find it is not free and after a while there is no fulfillment or joy. According to one survey, over half the young women have casual sex during their college years. Young women who are sexually active before marriage are three times more likely to suffer depression and three times more likely to attempt suicide. It makes sense to respect God's eternal plan for the body, mind and soul. Greetings, I always like to greet people with "how's it going" and have a good day. To some it is just words but I really do hope you have a good day and I hope you desire the same for my family and I. We didn't have church last Sunday and I spent most of the day trying to get the ice from my driveway. It came up with lots of de- termination and elbow grease. Some of the ice came up in two-inch thick blocks which be- came heavy very quickly. I didn't finish until the next day but it was great to see black drive- way and green grass. There is an old saying snow sometime sticks around waiting for an- other snow. We did have snow sticking around in spots and I hope the old saying doesn't come to pass. I have my treadmill positioned so I can see out the window as I walk my 20 minutes. There is a great view of the road and yard as I walk. Often I see other walkers, school buses and animals while I am walking. I noticed a cou- ple of deer tracks in the snow. They had for- aged around for something to eat in several areas of the yard. We gathered all our tax information so we can have them e-filed by Carol. She started telling us the many tax laws concerning what we could do and what we should do. They went in one ear and out the other as I didn't under- stand, so I'm glad we use her services as a tax preparer. However, the study is far from over as we have eight more women to discuss. The next extraordinary woman will be Hannah (beginning March 10). We hope you will join us this Wednesday as we finish the study on Rahab. The study and children activities will begin at 6 p.m. CST, but it is all preceded by a meal at 5:30 p.m. REMINDER: The time change is quickly coming. Daylight Savings Time be- gins on March 14, so be sure to mark your calendar for the time change. Last Sunday, Crossroads ob- served the Lord's Supper. The Lord's Supper allows us to re- flect upon the sacrifice made for this world. Jesus took upon himself the sins of the world. The perfect Lamb was slain. The body broken for the for- giveness of our sin; the blood shed for every man, woman, and child. We should never for- get the sacrifice – the suffer- ing – placed upon our Lord. It is a privilege to commune and remember. My hope is that you have ac- cepted Jesus Christ as Lord. If not, then I'd love to talk with you about Jesus. Jesus offers hope; truly the hope that you are looking for. Join us. Come worship with us this Sunday. Service times: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. CST; worship ser- vice 10 :30 a.m. Hope to see you there. God has a plan for each of our lives, though most of us won't have as pivotal a role in history as Moses did. And while we are tempted to waste our time and "enjoy life." James 4:14 reminds us,"... What is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a lit- tle time, and then vanisheth away." May we like Moses live our life in service to our Lord.
