Students participating in a homeless unit at Pike Central recently sent 50 crocheted hats, three scarves and a crocheted mat made out of plastic bags to a homeless shelter in Evansville. The homeless unit began three years ago with a teacher grant from IPL. Thanks to a wonderful donor, the students will be making more hats and scarves in the near future to send to shelters. Several other students participating were not available for the picture. Mrs. Candy Meyer's seventh grade spent a week studying some different literary genres. The students studied the elements that makeup a Graphic Novel and then combined a lesson on summarizing to retell a Disney short film in Graphic Novel form.
