Jim Koury is a seeker of personal truth, and desires to empower oth- ers to find their own personal truth, whatever it may be. He is also an ac vist who is not afraid to speak his mind, and ruffle some feath- ers, if necessary. His main objec ve is to get people to think and think for themselves. He espouses Aristotle's mantra, "It is the mark of an edu- cated mind to entertain a thought without accep ng it." Jim does not force his views on others but just puts them out there for folks to think about and discard if they wish. Welcome to the March issue of Diversity Rules Maga- zione. It is hard to believe we are almost through the first quarter of this new year. Time is sure going fast, but on the flip side, we are a few steps closer to the end of this horrible pandemic that has stymied the world. Now with 3 approved vaccines, we can finally move ahead to some degree of normalcy as more and more Americans get vaccinated. I certainly en- courage all of you to get vaccinated not only for your own health and well-being but for that of our fellow and more vulnerable Americans who are much more suscep ble to the dangers of this horrific virus that has been with us for far too long. It has overstayed its welcome! This month's feature interview is with Glauco Arau- jo. Glauco is a Brazilian-born professional dancer and actor trained both here in the United States and in Brazil. In Rio, Glauco danced with the Rio Dance Company (modern dance), as well as with the inte- grated dance company ANDEF (disability dance). Glauco was drawn to NYC in early 2017 and was giv- en a scholarship in ballet at Alvin Ailey from 2017 to 2018. In 2018 he was the featured dancer in "Aria," a duet choreographed for him by Pedro Ruiz, with live accompaniment by the Camerata NY Orchestra. Glauco danced and acted the following year in Sasha Spielvogel's new musical Come Back Once More So I Can Say Goodbye — a celebra on of the 50th anni- versary of Stonewall. Glauco's next featured role was in Joshua Bergasse's musical A Crossing, performed with Barrington Stage Company. Recently, Glauco performed in a short bio-pic en - tled Dance for Freedom, highligh ng the challenges people of color face today, and which has garnered recogni on as the First-Place Recipient of the Dr. David Milch Founda on/CCNY Award in a short film compe on. Diversity Rules Magazine is honored to have Glauco as our feature guest interview. He is a talented man who we will certainly hear and see more about in the future. This month's issue, as usual, also contains some oth- er great features from both our regular columnists as well as some new ones, and other features sure to sa sfy all interests. As always, if anyone reading Di- versity Rules wishes to submit material for inclusion in a future issue, please do not hesitate to contact me at my email or give me a call! I welcome all types of genre's and interests, as long as they have some rela on to the diversity which is the social fabric of our na on. Speaking of our na on, isn't it wonderful to have a REAL President again? Joe Biden has started his term on a very high note, tackling the virus, and helping struggling Americans with another relief package that is sorely needed. We hope the Biden years will prove to be just what America needs ... a healing President, and one who focuses on the needs of people instead of corpora ons and the wealthy Bravo Joe! See you all in April, when spring will have arrived! My Two Cents A Message From The Editor James R. Koury, Editor/Publisher Diversity Rules Magazine | Mar 2021 | 3
