Meyer was a top 30 diver and completed five dives in the preliminary after a 20 -minute practice on the board on Friday. Jenna said, "Making it to state exceeded my expec- tations. I know most people might see that as the end goal, but for me, I just try to focus on small steps and goals, and my goal going in- to regionals was to do better there than I did last season, when I finished 10th. "Obviously, I was excited to make the cut and get to experience state my senior season. Because of COVID precautions, no one besides my diving coach could go with me. It was hard to not be able to have my parents, other coaches and team- mates there with me, but I tried not to focus on that and just enjoy myself. The pool and the facilities there are just fantastic. The whole at- mosphere was surreal. I feel like I did my first five dives as consistently as I could, and I was proud of my scores and the commentators remarks during the livestream. My fa- vorite part about the pool was probably the steps they had built-in so when you were getting out of the pool you didn't have to push yourself up on the wall. Just walked up the steps. It made me feel like an Olympian. "I want to thank everyone for their positive comments and support while I was there and for my coaches for be- lieving in me. Also to Mis- sy and her husband for tak- ing me up there and making it special." Coach Missy Sparks com- mented, "Jenna has had an amazing season. She won PAC for the third year in a row. This was her second year as sectional champ and her fourth year making it to regionals. She placed eighth at regionals, making it to the state finals in Indianap- olis, where she was ranked one of 30 divers in the state of Indiana. "What an incredible honor and achievement and what a way to end her high school diving career! She has in- credible drive, determina- tion and perseverance. It has been a privilege to watch her grow as an athlete and to watch all of her hard work pay off. I wish nothing but the best for her and can't wait to see what she accomplish- es after graduation. She has such a bright future and I'm definitely going to miss her." Charger swim coach Tra- vis Cochren commented, "From what I saw virtual- ly, Jenna dove well at both regional and state. She has been very consistent all sea- son with her dives. At region- al, she was able to edge her way into the top eight. From what I saw of her state dives, she looked very smooth. Un- fortunately, I was not able to attend either and only caught dives virtually." A fter graduation, Jenna plans to attend IUPUI and major in nursing. She had stated, "I would like to be a forensic nurse and am really excited about this new chap- ter."
