Kelsey, 58, passed away January 10, 2021, at his home. He was born in Tell City on December 26, 1962, the son of the late Victor Calvin Kelsey and Elsie Louise (Harlen) Gann, who survives him. He had worked at Styline In- dustries for 17 years, enjoyed drawing and coloring, and es- pecially spending time with his mom. He is survived by his moth- er, Elsie L. Gann, of Otwell; brother, Victor Kelsey, of Ot- well; and a half-sister, Opal Sermersheim. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Layman) Kelsey. Kerr, 67, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021, in Venice, Fla., from natural causes unrelated to COVID-19, such a blessing that allowed his wife to be with him at his bedside. He was born in May 13, 1953, to John and Bonnie (Quiggins) Kerr in Vincennes. He married Terri Kerr on Ju- ly 31, 1993. Although he worked as a ge- ologist for BB Mining, he will be remembered much more so as an amazing husband, so full of love for his wife, children, grandchildren, extended fam- ily and many dear friends. He was extremely talented, play- ing guitar since he was young. He loved all sports, but tru- ly loved IU basketball, never missing a game. His other true love was his golden retriever, Barkley. In addition to his wife of 27 years, Terri, he is also sur- vived by his, son Seth (Lina) Kerr; stepson, Cole (Gail) Miller; stepdaughter, Shay (A J) Rudnicki; grandchildren, Ady, Maisy, Beeja, Ender and Violet; sister, Mary ( John) Johnson; five nephews; and one niece. A private family graveside service will be at Walnut Hills Cemetery, with a Celebra- tion of Life planned later this spring. VONDA LEE HAYES Vonda Lee (Bradfield) Hayes, 88, of Petersburg, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021, at her home. She was born the daughter of Prentice and Mabel Brad- field. Her husband, Jimmie F. Hayes, preceded her in death in 2019. She was a member of Twin Oaks Church for many years. She is survived by six chil- dren, Darlene (Bob) Mot- tern, Tony (Sharon) Hayes, Rhonda Hayes, Randy (Pam) Hayes and Rhea Turner; daughter-in-law, Tammy Hayes; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preced- ed in death by her son, Glen Hayes; and siblings, Jeane, Landis, Ruby, Lyndon, Mary- lou, Barbara and Nancy. BEVERLY ANN POWELL Beverly Ann (DeSpain) Powell, 80, of Indianapolis, went home to be with the Lord early on the morning of Mon- day, January 11, 2021, at St. Francis South. She was born on August 25, 1940, in Hawthorne, Calif., a daughter of the late Ben H. De- Spain and Audrey B. (Aubrey) Porter. She was a 1958 high school graduate of Frankfort Pil- grim College and High School in Frankfort, Ind. On July 5, 1960, she married the love of her life, John Edward Powell, Sr. She loved him completely and fully until her death. She had an indomitable spirit, al- ways learning something new, and was someone who would not quit. For 19 years, she taught re- medial reading, art and oth- er elementary school class- es. She was very creative and loved all forms of art. She was a baker, enjoyed crafts, cal- ligraphy and analyzing hand writing. She was a voracious reader, especially the Bible. She lived for family gatherings and spending time with those she loved most, including her beloved dog, Wiggles, who re- cently preceded her in death. Those left to cherish her memory include her four chil- dren, Wesena (Daniel) Turn- er, of Petersburg, John (Lor- raine) Powell, of Indianapo- lis, James (Pamela) Powell, of Hobe Sound, Fla., and Christy (David) Hartley, of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Paul (Becca) Turner, William (Sap- phire) Turner, Wayne (Holly) Turner, Tiffany Powell, Josh- ua (Mamie) Powell, Bethany (Darin) Peters and Ruthann Hartley; seven great-grand- children, Daniel, Joseph, Sam- uel, Eleanor, Ethan, Braelyn and Jaxson Turner; a brother, Benny (Sharon) DeSpain, of Cape Coral, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Sandefur, Jr., 83, of Oakland City, entered rest on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. He was born on Jan. 26, 1937, in Evansville, to Charles W. and Elizabeth ( Weight- man) Sandefur. He was a very proud Army Veteran, serving during Ko- rean War, and was member of Oakland City American Le- gion Post #256 and Oakland City Eagles. He was born in Pike County on July 26, 1938, to Pearlie and Evelyn (Risley) Jones. He lived his entire life in Pike County. Working from 16 years old, he was employed at Velpen Factory, Jasper Wood Corp., Old Ringer Construc- tion, Reef-Railey Construc- tion, Oakland City Plastic, Amax Coal and Jasper Ru- ral King ARC. He retired from Old Ben #2 after 40 plus years. He was a member of Lo- cal 5179. His hobbies included fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Velma (Bottoms); daughter, Molly ( Vince) Fis- cus; grandchildren, Colton (Mariah) Bush, Kirbi Mc- Candless, Jesse (Tiffany) Bush, Kaley Powell, Jayden Bush, Tyler, Roni and Gage Fiscus; and great-grandchil- dren, Mya and Paislee Bush, Peyton and Ireland Bush, and Trey, Brody and Saige Fiscus. DANA LEE ZAZZET TI Dana Lee Zazzetti, 73, of Petersburg, passed away sur- rounded by her adoring fami- ly at 6:33 p.m. on Friday, Janu- ary 8, 2021, at Memorial Hos- pital, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 22, 1947, in Chicago Heights, Ill., to Martin and Bonnie (Fisher) Keith. She grew up in Chica- go Heights before moving to Winslow with her family in 1971. A fter 24 years, Dana retired from National Office Furni- ture before working as a be- loved cook at The Rock in Ire- land. She was an avid read- er and loved spending time with and cooking for her fam- ily, traveling, especially to the ocean, and sewing. At age 72, she proudly checked parasail- ing off her bucket list while in Florida. In later years, she en- joyed fun and mischief with her apartment friends, loving- ly referred to as the "Golden Girls." She was a fiercely lov- ing mom, mother-in-law, gran- ny, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend, and nothing made her happier than having those she loved around her. She is survived by her chil- dren, David ( Joni) Zazzetti, of Lincoln City, Anthony (Chris- tina) Zazzetti, of Jasper, Nicole (Greg) Gadlage, of Jasper, and Eric (Tera) Zazzetti, of Winslow; her brothers, Mar- tin Kelly (Gretchen) Keith, of Evansville, Stephen (Alice) Keith, of Petersburg, and es- tranged sister, Linda "Dinky" Bartley of Patoka; 10 grand- children; four step-grandchil- dren; three great-grandchil- dren; and nieces and nephews. TAMMY HOLMAN Tammy Holman, 49, loving wife and mother of five chil- dren, passed away in her home on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born December 31, 1971, to Shirley Tepe and the late Mike Tepe. In 1996, she met the love of her life, Jason Holman. They married and raised their five children, Robbie, Cady, Emi- ly, Jayton and Jacy. Tammy put being a loving mother above all else in her life. She trea- sured her children and em- braced every moment she had with them, from living room sing-a-longs about grease lightning to kitchen dance par- ties about the time warp. Later in life, she had a pas- sion for tending to her many chickens and donating her dai- ly egg collection to the local food bank. She loved summer days playing tag outside with her three grandchildren and teaching them how to care for the chickens. She also spent her summer days attempt- ing to garden, but lacking the ability to keep a single flower alive. She was known for her kind heart, sweet nature and her ability to love without lim- its. She is survived by her hus- band, Jason Holman; moth- er, Shirley Tepe; five chil- dren, Ronnie Roberts (Nich- olas Skie), Cady (Sean) Dum- ler, Emily (Chris) Cullivan, Jayton Holman (Ivy Hobson) and Jacy (Blake) Carroll; three grandchildren, Chris- topher Cullivan, Tinley Cul- livan and Riley Carroll; two brothers, Mike Woodland and Cody Tepe; two nieces, Mackenzie Woodland and Ke- arstan Nichol; along with ma- ny aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom she loved with her whole heart. "You'll see her in the clouds above, hear her whisper words of love, you'll be together be- fore long, until then, listen for her song." A celebration of life will be at a later date. BRIAN S. SCHAPKER Brian S. Schapker, 57, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021, at the Linda E. White Hospice House. He was born September 12, 1963, in Washington, to the late Melvin and Hilda (Col- vin) Schapker. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and lifetime mem- ber of the Petersburg Moose Lodge. Surviving are his son, Owen Michael Schapker; two broth- ers, Christopher (Kerry Nie- haus) Schapker and Mitch (Shelley) Schapker; three stepchildren he helped raise, Kim, Steve and Nicholas; and three half-brothers, M. She vol- unteered at the Bread of Life Ministry and assisted in deliv- ering Meals on Wheels. She was a devoted wife and mother of four children. She enjoyed working in the flower garden and watching her bird feeders. Quilting, sewing and scrap- booking were hobbies she al- so enjoyed. She loved spend- ing time with her grandchil- dren and great-grandchildren.
