" "…be ye reconciled to God" (2 Cor. 5:20). In this verse, Paul is not telling the Corinthi- ans to be reconciled to God, he is telling them what to tell unbelievers. If we back up to verse 18, we see Paul tell the believers in Corinth that God "hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation." He then goes on to define the ministry of reconcilia- tion when he begins the very next verse with the words "to wit." Those words mean "name- ly" or "that is to say." So Paul is telling believ- ers what to say to unsaved people when they go forth with the ministry of reconciliation. We might paraphrase him to say: "God has given us the ministry of reconcil- iation, so go out and tell the lost, 'God was in Christ as He hung on the cross, imputing your trespasses to Him and not to you. He then com- mitted this message of reconciliation to us be- lievers, and now we are His ambassadors. If He were here, He'd be begging you to be rec- onciled to Him, but He's not, we're here in His The church has neglected to be a clear voice for values. The church could have been the most powerful force on earth to help protect society from many evils and help shape 21st Century culture. Television and the elite media have steered us away from God and Christian values. In recent years, the media has created a new morality for the masses. It was a terrible mistake and tragic failure when the churches wouldn't say "enough is enough." One televi- sion producer said, "We test sex on the pub- lic and see how much the church will permit and each year we increase sex and violence." The most important task of the church is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is a life changing message of hope, love, and for- giveness. Our responsibility does not stop in- side the four walls of a church. The preach- ing of the Gospel should have an impact on our culture. Those in the church and those outside should under- stand sin and its con- sequences. The athe- ists are now running T V ads against Christiani- ty. The elite media and Hollywood have brain- washed this generation to believe right is wrong and wrong is right. Most of the T V net- works, except FOX, are determined to promote a form of religion and political socialism that is anti-God. The is- sues of honesty, decency and morality are Bi- ble based issues that should be taught by the church. We have too many seeker sensitive pastors and feel good preachers who neglect these truths. Our politicians are often pagan I don't have any cute hellos this week just a howdy folks. Hope everyone is doing okay and staying safe. This past week has been busy with doctor visits and tests again. I'll be glad when all the leftovers from the COVID go away. I had a doctor's follow up appointment Tues- day and from there another set of x-rays which led to a cat scan at Deaconess imaging. I was joking with Dr.Keepes that pretty soon I will be glowing in the dark. I haven't heard from the scan yet so I don't know what if anything was found. I seem to be getting better, but we are afraid I might have some damage caused by the virus. I hope we are wrong. With all the wind we have had one of the old sassafras trees in our yard blew over into the cemetery so I tried to get it cleaned up. That was one of the days my lungs acted up and made my chest burn. It was a pretty day al- though a wee bit chilly, but nice to be outside. Last Wednesday we started tearing down the displays of "Christmas in the Park." It is lots of work but it is coming apart easier than it did going up. Next year it would be nice to see a few more volunteers helping. When difficulties come, you can pull away from God or you can choose to draw as close as you can, seeking an- swers to life's hard questions by searching Scripture, pray- ing fervently and standing on God's promises.
