Jim Koury is a seeker of personal truth, and desires to empower others to find their own personal truth, whatever it may be. He is also an ac vist who is not afraid to speak his mind, and ruffle some feathers, if necessary. His main objec ve is to get people to think and think for themselves. He espouses Aristo- tle's mantra, "It is the mark of an educated mind to entertain a thought without accep ng it." Jim does not force his views on others but just puts them out there for folks to think about and discard if they wish. Welcome to the December issue of Diversity Rules Magazine. Yes, I indeed said December. It is crazy that we are in the last month of 2020. But really, does anyone care about 2020 any longer? It can go out of style any me it wants. For obvious reasons, 2020 has been an atrocious year. Personally, it was one of devasta ng loss, as my dear beloved mother died in October. Anyone who has lost a parent/parents knows how debilitat- ing it can be. My mom was my best friend and my confidant. It has created a void in my world that will most likely never be filled. How could it be, right? I will always remember her. I will always look back on 2020, not as the year of Covid, but the year I lost my mom. Rest in peace dear woman. I think of you every day, and I feel your presence surrounding me. Due to the death of my mom, Diversity Rules Maga- zine took a hiatus in November. All digital subscrip- ons have been extended a month, but we are back with a great December issue. This year wasn't all bad, though, as we finally are ge ng rid of the repulsive man that pretends to be President. The November elec ons brought us the defeat of this evil menace, and as expected he is go- ing out like the whining cry baby that he is, claiming fraud, and whatever other delusional reason why he lost the elec on. You lost because you are a horri- ble man, unfit to be President of the United States. America bids you good riddance! What is frightening in all this, however, is that 72 mil- lion Americans voted to reelect him. We have a divide in this country that, unfortunately, will take a long me to repair, if it ever is. Donald Trump brought the worst of America out from under its rocks, and cold, clammy caves. It will take a long me to relegate it back to where it all came. It will take diligence and ci zens remaining vigilant, as well as VOTING. A re- cord number of Americans did indeed vote, and that is heartening to me for the future. Hopefully, Amer- ica has learned its lesson and will never again elect a reality star TV clown as its President. This month's feature interview is with John Duff. John is one of those ar sts that Diversity Rules loves to highlight -- one that is on the fringes of acceptance, with an edgy flair, that is so becoming of the editor/ publisher. John Duff grew up in a suburb outside of Bal more, Maryland, the youngest of two sisters and a brother. John Duff is out now with "Give a F-ck," his unabash- edly theatrical-R&B-pa er song; the second release from his upcoming, yet unnamed visual EP. With a tradi onal piano intro, soaring octave-jumping cli- max, and lush piano accompaniment riddled with seventh chords and drama c turnarounds - it's his most Mariah Carey, Babyface inspired piece yet. The track is about unrequited love and although packed with wordplay, there is no hidden message. It's open- ing lyric refers to Duff's disdain of masturba on and desire for connec on. I hope you enjoy the December issue, and as usual, I always encourage feedback at the blog where ar cles are posted. Stay healthy and safe, and for heaven's sake, get vaccinated against COVID! You will help save someone else's life by doing so. My Two Cents A Message From The Editor James R. Koury, Editor/Publisher Diversity Rules Magazine | Dec 2020 | 3
