May your eyes take delight in following my ways" (Proverbs 23:26, NLT). Surrendering to God is not the same as surrendering to an enemy. God is for us, not against us. Surrendering to Him means abandoning our- selves to God and no longer resisting him, accepting his plans and perfect will for our lives. It means freedom. We don't have to strive anymore once we give Him our hearts. We have many on our hearts who are in need of the Lord's healing touch. Doctors don't have all the answers, but we know God does. Put your faith and trust in Him today. We will continue practicing social distancing and ask ev- eryone to wear a mask. We invite you to worship with us. Some people think Heav- en will be dull and boring, but nothing could be further from the truth. The Father's house will be a happy home because there will be work to do there. John wrote in Revelation 22:3, "His servants shall serve Him." Each one will be given the task that suits his powers, his tastes and his abilities. And the Father's house will be a happy home because friends will be there. Have you ever been to a strange place and had the joy of seeing a familiar place? Not one of us who enters the Father's house will feel lonely or strange, for we who have put our trust in Christ are part of His family, sharing Heaven's joys forever with all our brothers and sis- ters in Christ. If at any time you have no church to attend, your pres- ence will be greatly appreciat- ed and I am sure you will leave feeling blessed. It has been a few weeks since our last update in the paper, but this week we take an opportunity to let you know that this Wednesday, October 28, will be concluding our study in the book of Ruth. If you have not joined our study yet, then don't fret, we will re- cap the previous three chap- ters and then discuss the fi- nal (fourth) chapter. So, if you have not attended yet, then join us; our study begins at 6 p.m. CDT. Also, remember that we have started a new children's ministry on Wednesday eve- ning. It is called "Kids' Wor- ship for Life Club." The chil- dren will be reading, learning, memorizing scripture and re- ceiving rewards. It is a new and exciting adventure. The new adventure correlates to I Timothy 4:12, "Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an ex- ample in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity." We hope you and your child can join us this Wednesday. As al- ways, the study and children's activities begin at 6 p.m., but everything is preceded with a meal at 5:30 p.m. Hope to see you there. Don't forget to change your clocks this weekend. Our ser- vice time this Sunday will not change, but it will surely seem like it if you fail to change your clock before going to bed Sat- urday. Remember it is "fall back" an hour. With that re- minder, allow me to invite you to visit Crossroads for our Sun- day worship. At Crossroads, we love Jesus and love people and would be honored with your visit. We would love to be your place of worship. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Mover than ever, I believe hope is the most crucial and necessary characteristic of Christians in 2020. Between pandemics and elections, we have our hands full with fear and uncertainty. That's why we are studying the book of Mark. When you read the book of Mark it forces you to ask and answer questions along with the disciples; "who is this that even the wind and waves obey him? " As well as "do you be- lieve that Jesus is the son of the living God? " and if you can answer this in the affirmative, you will still deal with fear and uncertainty, but season such as pandemics and elections, lose their edge. Because you have hope. This week here at the First Christian Church we looked at the parable of the sower. And I want to encourage you to take some time, and instead of ask- ing what kind of soil am I? Pray earnestly that God would em- power you through his Spirit to be a sower. More than ev- er our community needs us to be people who unsparingly sow seed, so that all could have hope in the God who has called us, rescued us, and seated us with Christ. That's the kind of hope that will radically change VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E.
