Sadler "Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doc- trine both to exhort and to convince [refute] the gainsayers." — Titus 1:9 Satan never rests in his insatiable desire to corrupt the Word of God. A case in point is the present-day teaching of self-love, self-esteem and self-worth. The influence of this unsound doctrine has nearly permeated every strata of Christendom, including the Grace Movement. Like the beat of a drum, this theme is heard almost constantly from the pulpits of America and frequently appears on the pages of Chris- tian literature. Beware when you hear or read: "It is important to feel good about yourself," "Learn to love yourself," "Probe your inner- most self to understand why you think and feel as you do," "God sent His son to die for you be- cause you are of great value." On the surface these phrases may seem commendable, but in reality they are diamet- rically opposed to the Scriptures. The above has been weighed in the balance and found to be wanting. For example: "The heart [inner- most self]is deceitful above all things, and des- perately wicked: who can know it? " ( Jer. 17:9). Paul concurred when he said, "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh, [old nature or self]) dwelleth no good thing" (Rom. 7:18). The freedom of the press and religion has always been important in America. The me- dia always puts their money on liberal politics and liberal religious beliefs. We see the cul- tural war raging among our leaders in Wash- ington. The media seeks to divide Christians and blend false and true faith into one body. Those who believe human life is sacred and marriage should be between a man and wom- an are scorned by a liberal media and defined as intolerant. There are millions of good Christian peo- ple in America who believe the Bible and re- spect traditional values. They believe govern- ment is for the people and not people for the government. There are two great enemies to Christianity and freedom in America. Only about 14 percent of the elite media attend church. They have a reli- gion that could be called secularism. This reli- gion is promoted in our textbooks from grade school through college. By the time they gradu- ate from college most traditional values are tossed out and if any religion is left it is liber- al and leaves a personal God absent. This re- Ramblings of my mind by Lowell Thomas Minnie Pearl would say "howdy it's so nice to be here." If you remember Minnie, then you remember Hee Haw the country music show. There were so many different performers and they were all so talented along with a differ- ent guest star almost every week. About three years ago I was fortunate enough to meet Lu- lu Romans at a show in Branson Missouri. She was at the show enjoying it just as we were. I'm not overly impressed with famous people but she was a very nice lady. The old decoration crew was at work at Hor- nady park and we didn't get a whole lot done. One of the guys said if they don't find some younger people to learn from us how to set up the displays they are going to have to supply us with Geratol. I think the youngest person out there was in his late sixties. Some of the work is a little physical and tiring if you aren't ready for it. I suppose you could consider this as notice that the ministerial association could use the help and so could the crew. I was impressed with the debate between President Trump and Vice President Biden because even though there were not many straight answers, it did show that they could behave themselves and show some respect for one another. As in all elections there is still plenty of mudslinging which usually does cause more confusion. This election does seem to have two completely opposite views on how our government should be ran.
