The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, September 16, 2020 B-9 MINUTES Continued from page 7 Presbyterian Wesleyan can save this land we love and keep religious freedom alive. The outbreak of vi- olence, vandalism, mur- der, and destruction is un- matched by anything I have seen in my lifetime. In every country where I have seen socialism it has left the peo- ple in pain and sorrow. Join thousands with Franklin Graham on Sep- tember 26, 2020 on the mall in Washington, D.C. for a prayer march. Encourage pastors and friends to sup- port this wonderful occa- sion. VIEWPOINT Continued from page 7 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 7 and now the blades won't move whenever they are engaged. It looks like a piece of whatever he hit got stuck in one of the pulleys and threw the belt off. We haven't got to work on it yet but we are hoping for an easy repair. Velpen General Baptist didn't have regular services Sunday because several of us weren't feeling well and coughing. When I cough it sounds like a lung coming out and it is embarrassing. This is the ailment I hear more peo- ple are experiencing, Any- thing we get now we wonder do I have Corona and is it safe to be around people. I can't close without say- ing something about the elec- tion coming up. I am so hap- py some facebook posts have asked us to quit doing battle with our friends who feel and think differently concerning our candidates. If we would all put God fi rst, our families sec- ond and the things of the world somewhere near no where we would be better off as a nation. We wouldn't have to be con- cerned about all the political agenda. I do love the Lord God Almighty and I do love my country, but I would love for it to put God fi rst and let Him guide and direct our lives. Well time to close so get out there and be a blessing. Work on letting God be your guide and love one another. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the RHETT Nazarene Pentecostal "Whoever else thinks you are of little worth.... to your dog, you are the heart of his universe"— Pam Brown. This week, PAWS is fea- turing a perfect pup named Rhett, who was named af- ter the country superstar Thomas Rhett, due to his melodious bark, which is music to the ears. Rhett is a fun-loving, full-blooded beagle who has an investigative na- ture, is very alert and ener- getic, loves a good chase, is tri-colored black, brown and white, and has warm friendly eyes. He can be adopted by calling 812- 354-9894. good thing the Lord spoke unto us. All came to pass." We should start thanking Him now for this by faith! Out of thanksgiving, Is- rael was to bring the fi rst and the best of their har- vest in a basket to the priest at the tabernacle and then profess audibly, acknowl- edging God's faithfulness to Israel in preserving them and bringing them to the land as He had prom- ised (Deut. 26:1-4). They were to rehearse how God had heard their cries and prayers for help in Egypt and that He delivered them out of their hard bond- age and affl iction "with a mighty hand" (Deut. 26:5 - 8). God brought Israel out of Egypt by His faithful- ness to them and then He would bring Israel in to the Promised Land by His faithfulness to them, giv- ing them a wonderful land which would meet their ev- ery need (Deut. 26:9). Israel was to acknowl- edge God's goodness, mer- cy and working on her be- half. They were to remem- ber how God provided for them, and to worship Him because of "the fi rstfruits of the land, which Thou, O Lord, hast given me," and rejoicing "in every good thing which the Lord thy God hath given unto thee" (Deut. 26:10 -11). These are good things to remember as we observe Thanksgiving. We have a deliverance to remember and thank God for, a de- liverance from sin by the sacrifi ce of our Savior. Christ delivered us from the bondage of our sins with strength, "with an outstretched arm" on the Cross, and "with a mighty hand" that was pierced for our sins. God redeemed us and brought us out of the bondage of our sins, and He is faithful and He will bring us in to our hope of heaven one day. Like Isra- el of old, we should recog- nize how God has provid- ed for us and has worked in our lives. We should praise Him together because of His goodness to us, thank- ing Him and rejoicing in "every good thing" which the Lord has given unto us. Church Note Deadline 10 A.M. Sunday morning service 10 :15 a.m.; Sunday school at 11 a.m. We are back having Sunday services. Jesus said in the last days He would pour out His Spir- it. We are anxiously awaiting for the outpouring. But it will not come until the church is ready to receive it. Believing for a harvest of souls in the last days, but the church is not ready. We have to become as one as the Father and Son are one. One mind, one aim and one Spirit. Let the church be- gin to move in the right direc- tion to see a turn around in the church and this country. Keep our president, vice-president and the cab- inet in your prayers that the right decisions will be made. Remember those in hospi- tals and nursing homes, who are in a place of no family or friends coming to visit. Also pray for families, your friends and neighbors that do not know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, and for reviv- al fi re to begin to burn fresh and anew. In His Service, George Bruce, Jr., Pastor MAIN STREET PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 10th and Main Streets, Petersburg 812-354-6844 Sunday worship 10 :30 a.m. Come visit us, our doors are always open to you. A true leader is a servant, committed to the success of each individual in the group. Jesus did not criticize his dis- ciples' desire to lead; he just showed them how to do it by washing their feet. The es- sence of spiritual leadership, therefore, is following Jesus and serving people. People rebel against controlling leaders, but it is impossible to rebel against a servant.
