Donald Ray was born to Baxter Delbar and Thelma Olive ( Jerrell) Hazelton in October 1932. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 64 years, Hilda (Matzig), and she survives; and loving father to daugh- ters, Debby Osgatharp and Dianne Elmore. He was a veteran and awarded the National De- fense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Army Occupational Medal (Ger- many) due in part to his re- search and development in perfecting military radar de- fense systems overseas. He was a S/SGT 1st class in the USAF. He'd enlisted in the military in Washington up- on graduating from Otwell H.S. in May 1950 and went to Active Duty December 1951 in Erding, Germany, until December 1955, where he met his wife and married in 1956. He attended college and was a member of an honor- ary scholastic fraternity Mu Tu Kappa, at Oakland City University, where he was a senior in 1961 and took grad- uate classes in the summers of 1963 and 1964 toward master's degrees in math, physics and chemistry from Bowling Green State Uni- versity in Ohio. With his de- grees, he went on to teach in the physical sciences: phys- ics, chemistry, science and technology, engineering and math at Otwell H.S. Au- gust 1961-May 1963; Peters- burg H.S. August 1963-Au- gust 1964; and Washing- ton, Ind., August 1964-Au- gust 1966. He then went to work for the Federal Gov- ernment-U.S. Navy NSWC Crane from June 1966 -April 1994, where he worked as a research chemist in the ar- eas of chemical sciences, en- gineering and as a pyrotech- nic developer. Throughout his life, he worked on his family's farm and was truly a giving and selfless man. He was preceded in death by his parents; four broth- ers, James, Delber, John, and Daniel; and an adopt- ed son, Walter. All are laid to rest at Walnut Hills Cem- etery. (Me- gan) Elmore. RONALD W. WOODFORD Ronald W. "Ron" Wood- ford, 79, of Cadiz, Ky., for- merly of Winslow, passed away at 8:08 p.m., Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Murray Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Ky. He was born April 1, 1941, in Velpen, to George and Dorothy (Fritz) Woodford; and married Quanna Lynch Burgess on June 17, 1964, in Huntingburg. He worked as a finishing superintendent at Windsor Plastics, currently Guard- ian Automotive, in Evans- ville. He was a man of God, who loved to play the pia- no and sing gospel hymns. Aside from his faith, he also had a passion for basketball, fishing and trapping. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his fam- ily and teaching his grand- children about his passions. He is survived by his wife, Quanna Woodford, of Cadiz, Ky.; one son, John (Dee) Burgess, of Shelbyville; two daughters , Kristy ( Wil- liam) Andreozzi, of Carmel, and Kim (Dave) Fikejs, of Hinsdale, Ill.; one brother, Greg (Beth) Woodford, of Ocala, Fla.; nine grandchil- dren; and three great-grand- children. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services for will be at 1 p.m., EDT on Thurs- day, June 25, 2020, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, with Dr. Robert Asa officiating. In- terment will follow at Sun- set Cemetery in Winslow. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funer- al home. Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.nassandson. com. ROSE BATCHELOR-GR AY Rose Ann Batchelor-Gray, 85, passed away on June 17, 2020, at Jasper Memorial Hospital. She was born on October 17, 1934, in Pike County, the daughter of Harley O. and Ruby L. (Sweet) Meadors. She married Frank Batch- elor on October 16, 1955, and he preceded her in death on October 31, 2003, after 48 years of marriage. She then married Robert H. Gray on March 12, 2012, and he survives. A fter graduating from Otwell High School in 1952, she worked at Cold Metal Products in Indianapolis. She moved to Washington when she and Frank were married in 1955. She worked at Uniroyal and retired from Washington Nursing Center. She was an active member of First Christian Church in the Win-A-Cou - ple Sunday School class and the Dorcas Quilting So- ciety, as well as heading up the kitchen detail for many church Thanksgiving din- ners. Her and Frank's lit- tle house was open to fam- ily and friends, and many of the nieces and nephews spent summer vacations with them. Her interests in- cluded crocheting, quilting, babysitting grandkids, and watching IU and Pacer bas- ketball, as well as her boys, the Atlanta Braves. Survivors include her husband, Robert H. Gray; two daughters and a son, Melody (Rick) Cockerham, Bradley ( Julia) Batchelor and Jane R. LEIGHTY Thomas E. Leighty, 78, of Jasper, passed away at 2:04 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born on Septem- ber 8, 1941, in Otwell, to Ho- mer and Nora (Frentress) Leighty. He married Susie Streicher on December 26, 1992, in Jasper. He retired from Indianap- olis Power and Light Compa- ny after many years of ser- vice. He and his wife were very active in prison and church ministries, and he was a mentor to many as- piring ministers. He en- joyed playing golf, singing and playing the guitar, and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Susie Leighty, of Jasper; five children; Kimberly (Al- an) Miller, of Sullivan, Bri- an (Bea) Leighty, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Kristi Gross, of Newburgh, Ken- ny (Kelly) Sibrel, of Loogoo- tee, and Dawn (Gary) Bart- ley, of Jasper; eight grand- children; five great-grand- children; one sister; Elzena Strain, of Petersburg; and one brother, David (Bren- da) Leighty, of Cato. Preceding him in death were brothers, Doin Leighty, John Leighty and Georgie Leighty; and sisters; Bar- bara Joann Swain and Mary Jane Ingersoll. DAVID KEITH FOWLER David Keith Fowler, 65, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away at 10 :10 a.m. on Thurs- day, June 4, 2020, at Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born October 22, 1954, in Daviess County, Ind., to the late Robert and Lois Dawson Fowler. He was married to the former Rhona McCloy, who survives. He worked in construc- tion for several different companies across the Unit- ed States. Also surviving are two brothers, Steve (Phyllis) Fowler, of McCleansboro, Ill., and Larry Kent ( Ju- line) Fowler, of New York, N.Y.; four nephews; and one niece. DAVID WAYNE GOT TSCHALL David Wayne Gottschall, 58, of Washington, entered rest on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. He was born on March 6, 1962, in Alcoy, Spain, to Roger Wayne and Virginia Gottschall. He was employed by City of Washington in the Street Department for four years. His survived by his wife, Cheryl (Norrington) Gottschall; his children, Amanda Hickman, Brittney Tyring, of Winslow, Emily Potts, Christine Pomeroy, of Grand Forks, N.D., and Christopher Gotschall, of Washington; a sister, Kim Gottschall, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and 13 grandchil- dren. A Celebration of Life will be at 5 p.m. on Saturday June 27, 2020, at Eastside Park, 2100 Memorial Ave. Washington, followed by a last ride to honor his wishes. DENISE LYNN JONES Denise Lynn Jones, 50, of Evansville, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020. She was born February 19, 1970. She worked at several ar- ea nursing homes during her 20 -plus-year career as a nurse. She is survived by her children, Ashley (Adam) Speer, of Grovetown, Ga., Jessica ( Jared) Perry, of Petersburg, Jonathon (Sar- ah) Mosby, of Morton, Ill., and Kody Mosby, of New- burgh; father, Dennis ( Wan- da) Moesner; four grand- children; siblings, Kevin (Shannon) Moesner, Linda (Keith) Hunerford and Don- na (Tony) Caudill; and sev- eral cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extend- ed family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 12 years, Stephen Jones; and mother, Linda (Noffsinger) Moesner. LINDA CHRISTINE GILLUM Linda Christine Gillum, 79, of Princeton, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020, at The Waters of Princeton. She was born March 31, 1941, in Oakland City to the late Kenneth and Melba Jo (Sadler) Gillum. She lived most of her life- time in Princeton, coming from Oakland City. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Princ- eton. She was a longtime member of Oakland City American Legion Post 256 Auxiliary. She had worked at the former Devoe and Reyn- olds Brush Factory, and as a clerk for many years at the former G.C. Murphy Co., then Index Notions, Bargain World, 3-D, Big Wheel and then retired from Walmart. She is survived by her son, Bradley S. Gillum, of Princ- eton; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Sharon Ann Crane (Terry), of Evanston, Wyo.; a niece; a nephew; a great- niece; and a great-nephew. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Colvin Fu- neral Home in Princeton. Burial will follow at Odd Fel- lows Cemetery in Princeton. She en- joyed spending time with her grandsons, collecting rocks, coins and crystals. She was loved dearly and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of seven years, Johnny Sebren, of Evans- ville; daughters, Samantha (David) (Sharp) Wilson, of Glezen, and Leah (C.J.) (Sharp) Persing, of Clato- nia, Neb.; two grandsons, with one on the way; broth- er, Kevin Gideon; and sister, Pam Wilkison. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Kenny Gideon and Brian Gideon. A private family visitation will be held. A graveside ser- vice will be announced at a later date at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.
