The county council met in executive session on Wednesday, June 17 for more than two hours dis- cussing the project. An ex- ecutive session is a closed door meeting. The council cited the open door law sec- tion IC 5 -14-1.5 -6.1(b)(4) which states: Interviews and negotiations with industrial or commercial prospects or agents of industrial or com- mercial prospects," as the reason for the meeting. The public is invited to attend and comment on the project at the July 14 meet- ing. Princeton woman charged with dealing meth By Andy Heuring A traffic stop early Satur- day morning led to the ar- rest of a Princeton woman on a charge of dealing meth. Vicki Rhea Stephens, 45, of 302 E. Oak St., Apt. A, Princeton, was charged with dealing meth, less than five grams, a level 6 felony; maintaining a common nui- sance; possession of meth, less than 5 grams, a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia. Petersburg Patrolman Scott Arnold said he no- ticed a green vehicle leaving the north side trailer court and then stop in the high- way with its turn signal on for an extended time before turning. Officer Arnold saw the vehicle turn into a drive- way and stay there until he turned off his headlights. The vehicle then went south on Highway 57 and turned into Huck's. Arnold said when he drove around the block, the car again went south on Highway 57 and turned west on Pike Ave. He said he fol- lowed the vehicle and saw it go left of center twice before he stopped the vehicle near Hornady Park. While talking with Ste- phens, who was driving, Ar- nold said she was "very ner- vous, sweating, frantically looking for her registration, shaking, had uncontrolla- ble muscle movements in her face, and spilled a drink all over herself." When Arnold had Ste- phens and her passenger, Zachary Eads, get out of the car, police searched the ve- hicle. Eads had a clear cylinder container, with four brown papers burned on one end, containing a green leafy plant-like substance. He al- so had a white cylinder con- tainer with a green leafy substance, a plastic bag- gie with a white hard plas- tic piece with a wax sub- stance on it and a glass pipe containing a wax substance and burnt residue. Arnold said they also found a dig- ital scale, a smoking pipe and burnt residue, as well as a smoking bowl with burnt residue. Officer Arnold's report states Eads told him the wax was THC wax. In the backseat, Arnold said he found a purse. Ste- phens told him she had nev- er seen the purse before. In the purse, Arnold said he found four empty bag- gies, digital scales with a white residue on them, and two compact mirrors, also with white residue on them. According to his report, Arnold also found a Un Jour De Reve bag contain- ing a $20 bill, a plastic bag- gie with a corner cut, a cor- ner baggie containing white residue, a glass pipe with a white crystal-like substance in it and burnt residue, a lit- tle spoon with white pow- der on it, a tied baggie con- taining a white crystal sub- stance weighing 1.8 grams, and a second bag with 0.3 grams of white powder. Stephens was taken into custody on the meth-relat- ed charges. Arnold said he told Eads he could go home, but he would be requesting possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia charges against him. Washington man perishes in motorcycle crash By Andy Heuring A Washington man was killed last Wednesday af- ternoon in a motorcycle ac- cident near Otwell. David W. Gottschall, 58, of 705 Sunset Ave., Wash- ington was killed when he lost control of his motorcy- cle and hit a house. Pike County Sheriff's Deputy Cody Jones in his report stated Gottschall was riding his black 2000 Harley Davidson XL Series motor- cycle south on Highway 257 near CR400N. Deputy Jones' report states Gottschall "traveled straight through the curve, driving into a yard at 3381, SRSR257. He continued to travel straight into the yard and crashed into the front side of the house." The house is owned by Marvin Graber. Gottschall was uncon- scious at the scene. He was wearing a helmet. He was taken from the scene by Pike County EMS and died at Memorial Hospital in Jas- per. The accident happened at 4:18 p.m. See obituary on page B-7.
