4 Diversity Rules Magazine May 2020 We are living in a very tumultuous me due to the incompetence of someone pretending to be Presi- dent, along with the impacts of a pandemic wreak- ing havoc on every country in the world. Combine the ineptness of the current administra on with the pan- demic and we have a degree of chaos beyond any of our wildest imagina ons. A Demo- cra c hoax it was. Everything will be fine. It will all magically disappear. Well, we all know these pronouncements from the clown in the White House have proven to be false. Covid-19 has upended every established norm we have and has changed our lives incred- ibly, to the point where we are restricted at home, businesses have closed, masks are being worn in public, and everyone is looking at those around them with a suspicious eye, wonder- ing if they have "it." This chaos and uncertainty will con nue for the foreseeable future. There will not be any degree of normalcy returning to our lives un l an effec ve treatment and/or cure is developed. Un- l then, we are the whim of this virulent virus. We, as humans, are not in control, no ma er how much we think we are. Most of the world's governments have shown em- pathy, understanding, and compassion for those thrown out of work due to massive closures of non- essen al businesses. S mulus payments in varying forms have been given to each respec ve na on's ci zens, in an a empt to help them through to the conclusion of this pandemic, whatever that conclu- sion may be. Some governments have been slow to respond, such as the United States, to the needs of its ci zens, with delays in s mulus payments to in- dividuals, but money has been expediently given to corpora- ons and others that do not need monetary assistance. Some in our country have been summarily and purposefully denied any financial help due to provincial and religious big- otry, such as the na on's sex workers. What is a sex worker? As per Wikipedia, a sex worker is "a person who is employed in the sex industry. The term is used in reference to all those in all ar- eas of the sex industry, includ- ing those who provide direct sexual services as well as the staff and management of such industries. Some sex workers are paid to engage in sex acts or sexually explicit behavior which involves varying degrees of physical contact with clients (pros tutes and some but not all professional dominants); pornographic models and ac- tors engage in sexually explicit behavior which is filmed or photographed. Phone sex operators have sexually-oriented conversa ons with clients and may do verbal sexual roleplay." Sex workers in America have been effec vely shut out from receiving any s mulus benefits, despite their primary means of suppor ng themselves being wiped out due to fears associated with close and personal contact with cli- ents. They have been le to fend for themselves. Covid-19 and Sex Workers Safe Spaces, Equal Protection and Fair Treatment By Jim Koury, Editor/Publisher
