The Sigwarths have recently completed their largest scale work yet, installed at the Museum of Wisconsin Art. The installation is created from more than 180 pieces connected in three hanging towers. The piece was commissioned by the James and Karen Hyde Foundation for the museum building and was designed, blown and built over the past year. The Sigwarths have forged an identity in the glass art community, as well as in the Wisconsin art community. "Our intention and goal is to be partners in this life together, and everything we've done has fallen in line with that," said Douglas. The artists mark glass blowing as "a really fastpaced, spontaneous medium." Most pieces take the pair between one and one and a half hours and the glass must remain hot and continuously be worked with, not allowing for pauses. Douglas Sigwarth noted that their glass art requires that they collaborate with the medium itself and with each other because of the art's quick, unpredictable nature, the process of which gives no time for consideration or consultation.
