The Eyes of Love A grandmother and a little girl, whose face was sprinkled with bright red freckles, spent the day at the zoo. The children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws. Youve got so many freckles, theres no place to paint, a boy in the line cried. Embarrassed, the little girl dropped her head. Her grandmother knelt down next to her. I love your freckles, she said. Not me, the girl replied. Well, when I was a little girl I always wanted freckles, she said, tracing her finger across the childs cheek. Freckles are beautiful. The girl looked up. Really? Of course, said the grandmother. Why, just name me one thing thats prettier than freckles. The little girl peered into the old womans smiling face. Wrinkles, she answered softly. How about your neighbors, do they know Jesus as Lord and Savior? Jesus told us to go out into all the world and preach the gospel. Ghandi said he read the New Testament four times and almost became a Christian, until he came in contact with those who said they were followers of Jesus and he changed his mind. I pray that we will be followers of Jesus and that would cause others to want to know Jesus as Lord of their lives, that we truly shed the light of His love and we are salt that would cause them to be thirsty for Jesus. Look into the mirror of life and judge yourself. If you are looking for a house of worship come by and visit. We have a family atmosphere and people with big hearts of love desiring to see people grow in a relationship with Jesus. We will show you mercy and compassion as our Jesus did when He was upon this earth for He is our example. You will feel the presence of His Spirit and be refreshed and renewed. Remember to pray for your loved ones, friends and neighbors that are sick in body or facing problems of life. Only thing missing in ch-rch is you that don't know Jesus. Hope to see you in church Sunday. Religious viewpoint Go, and sin no more By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam The self-righteous Pharisees had brought a fallen woman to Jesus and, when they had set her in the midst, they began to accuse her, saying: Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest Thou? (John 8:5). They were using this fallen woman to embarrass the Lord into agreeing that this woman should be stoned, or else leaving Himself open to a charge of repudiating Moses Law. At first He made as though He heard them not, but, when they continued asking, they got what they asked for! Simply answering: He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her, the Lord turned away again to let that sentence do its work. They had set her in the midst. Now He had set them in the midst and, being convicted by their own conscience, they went out one by one (Verse 9). And there stood the woman alone before Him: a great sinner and a great Saviour. Since none of the Pharisees had dared to cast a stone at her, the Lord said: Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more (Verse 11). Thus the Lord graciously forgave the sinner-woman, yet without ignoring the demand of the Law. He had not denied that the woman deserved punishment. He had only pointed out that the Pharisees themselves were sinners; that they, like she, needed a Saviour. Thank God! Since Christ died for our sins, God can justly forgive usand He will, IF we but acknowledge our sin and our need of a Saviour, and do not join the self-righteous who keep going about to establish their own righteousness (Romans 10:3). This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners (I Timothy 1:15). God is very gracious to those who will acknowledge their sin and their need: For the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:12,13). By Clyde Dupin First Pope from the New World In March hundreds of thousands in Rome and millions around the world anxiously watched as the white smoke curled from the chimney in St. Peters Square. The first Pope ever to be elected from South America is now Pope Francis. The 76-year old Pope is the first Jesuit priest ever to be chosen. Now the 1.2 billion Catholics have a leader who is a humble man of the people. The new Pope Francis has three strong beliefs. He is a conservative on social issues. He believes the gay lifestyle is a sin, same-sex marriages are condemned in the Bible and all life is sacred. Second, he is known for his humble lifestyle and this is why he chose the name Francis. Third, living and serving in a socialist country, he embraces socialism and simply believes in spreading the wealth. What impact will the new pope have on America? He will stand firm against abortion, same-sex marriage and the gay lifestyle. He will, no doubt, do this with love and humility. The 85 million Catholics in America now have a new leader. In America, only one-third of Catholics attend Mass weekly. Many liberal groups with a social agenda will oppose the new Pope as absolute ruler of the Roman Catholic Church. Pope Francis will impact the world. Many still remember Pope John Paul II for his love and Continued on page 4 The Church Page is made possible by the following Firms and Businesses: Amber Manor Care Center Petersburg 354-3001 Benner & Co.
