We will be closed all day Friday, Nov. 29 Small Business Saturday November 30 hopping WEEKS UNTIL CHRISTMAS 5 By Janice Barniak SG Star-Times Editor editor@sgstartimes.com Walker's Hometown Store, in Princeton, is a restful place to shop—and not just because of the beds that line the wall, but because of the no-pressure fam- ily of owners who consider their philosophy to be the opposite of Black Friday. The family—Debbie, Tara, Der- rick, Isabella Walker—will have all their "Black Friday" specials out this week early, and will ex- tend them through the season. "We don't want people to stand outside at four in the morning," said Tara. This will be Walker's Home- town's first Black Friday since breaking away from a depart- ment-store parent company. The Walkers sell brand-name applianc- es, lifetime warranty tools, Ash- ley furniture, AT&T products and more. "We've got the whole gamut," said Debbie. "We always try to price match and delivery servic- es are available." For small children, they sell Me- lissa and Doug toys and furniture. Fathers and grandfathers will be interested in their lifetime war- ranty Case X X American-made knives, and sauces make good stocking stuffers. "I don't know anyone that wouldn't want a smoker," Derrick said. For older children and teens, they have gaming PCs, video game systems and virtual reali- ty games. For moms and grand- mas, they have recliners, massag- ers, high-end decor and applianc- es, big and small. When you buy from Walker's Hometown Store, the relation- ship doesn't end at the sale. If a customer has an issue, they can call the store for service. Where else can you find personal, local service like that? A family business is look- ing for repeat customers. Deb- bie said people locally probably don't know how much their busi- ness means to a store like theirs. She said if people want to see more, they can go to the Walk- er's Hometown Store Facebook page or to www.walkershome- town.com. "It's great to see people's eyes light up when they see the perfect gift," said Derrick. Debbie Walker demonstrates a top-of-the-line refrigerator with extra features by putting on The Temptations singing "My Girl" as a person might want to do while cooking in their kitchen. Debbie, Derrick and Tara Walker pose in the appliance aisle at Walker's Hometown Store. B-6 Shopping Wednesday, November 27, 2019 The Press-Dispatch The Press-Dispatch WITH
