Pike Central was led by Kah- le Young and Parker with 14 and 11, respectively. Liberty Taylor added seven and Tif- fany Arteaga had four. VINCENNES HANDILY DEFEATS PIKE CENTRAL Vincennes Lincoln (3-1) proved to be superior team as they defeated Pike Cen- tral, 71-48 at PCHS on Tues- day, Nov. 19. "I thought overall we com- peted pretty well with them," McCutchan said. "They are a very good team and with three minutes left, we were down by eight points, but we had a bad finish to the quar- ter with a few mistakes and like good teams do, they cap- italized on it." The Chargers were led by Vaughn with 15. She was fol- lowed by Powell with nine, Mallory Hickey and Hunt with seven each, Horrall with five, Leighty with three and Nelson with two. The Alices had four play- ers in double digits. They were led by Chloe Cardinal with 17, Maycee Lange with 16, Dani Kroeger with 12 and Gracie Kramer with 10. "Lange is a tough match- up on the block for us and most teams," McCutchan said. "We had to double her and she found the open play- er, but overall, I thought it was a game we could build off of." Pike Central was back in action when they hosted Tell City (1-6) on Tuesday, Nov. 26. The team will be on the road at Boonville (3-1) on Monday, Dec. 2 and East- ern Greene (1-4) on Tues- day, Dec. 3. PCMS Continued from page 1 The team was led by Brenton Fryrear with three points. He was followed by Barrett Cooper and Drew Dawson with two each; and Noah Meece with one. "Brenton Fryrear was our leading scorer once again," Robinette said. "On defense, I gave him the task of guard- ing arguably Heritage Hills' best player, and held him to nine points. He took the challenge and did a great job. Barrett Cooper did a good job on offense. He's a do-it-all type player with a wide set of offensive skills. "I'm proud of the defense for the second straight game. We were down by 12 at halftime, and I bet we gave up five or six fastbreak baskets off of steals. In the third quarter, we took a 2- 3 zone and it slowed down their offense, but still gave up too many points off turn- overs." The boys' team also host- ed North Posey on Thurs- day, Nov. 14. Pike Central won the eighth-grade game 37-19 against the Vikings. Gish led the team with 16; Morton had 15; and Zach Miller, Zane Gehlhausen and Ridao each scored two. The seventh graders lost 13-11. "We have some things to work on offensively," Rob- inette said. "The season is young. We have the time to work on getting the shots to fall. We were running our sets very well and taking good shots that just didn't go in, but anytime you hold a team to 13 points in any level of basketball, it's a great de- fensive performance. They were getting after it from the tip." Fryrear had four; Meece scored three; and Eli Ar- nold and Jacob Pauw each finished with two. Zoey Myers sinks a free throw for the Pike Central Middle School girls' bas- ketball team at Washington Catholic. Emma Hunt goes up for a post shot during the Pike Central Middle School girls' basketball team's win at Washing- ton Catholic on Monday, Nov. 25.
