Some people think Chris- tians should always be smil- ing and happy, and some- thing is wrong if they aren't. But this isn't necessari- ly true. Jesus stood outside the tomb of His friend Laza- rus and we read that "Jesus wept" ( John 11:36). As He ap- proached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept. Because of its spiritu- al blindness and guilt, He knelt in the Garden of Geth- semane and was "in agony and His sweat became like great drops of blood"(Luke 22). If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. I am sure you will receive a blessing from God above. May God bless each and everyone. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Regular services: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. and worship service and the Lord's Sup- per at 10 :30 a.m. When I first moved to Pe- tersburg from Atlanta, I had to get used to a lot of new things. One of them was learning my destinations. I learned there weren't a lot of signs, especially on I-69, so I started paying attention to things that marked my route, to know where I was, to judge how far I was. This became especially handy on my way home. You see, it's easy when you drive for a while to just look ahead, and loose track. You start thinking about different things, what you need to do, the people you need to see, VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. John Manges, Minister and if you aren't paying at- tention, you might just miss where you are going. A cou- ple of times, not paying at- tention I missed the Peters- burg exit, and I was halfway to Washington. But then, I started looking for things to judge where I was. The smokestacks became espe- cially helpful. When I saw the billows of smoke rising into the air, day or night, I knew Pike County was close, my Petersburg exit was ap- proaching. The Psalmist writes this about God's word, that is scripture; "your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path" (119:105). We need a light for our path in this world, as the world seems darker, it's easy to lose fo- cus and miss our direction. We need to be watchful in our lives and we need to cul- tivate our relationship with the Lord through prayer and his word. Everyone welcome. "My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth" (Psalms 121:2). Who better to ask for help than the One Who created us and our environment? Who would know us bet- ter than He would?
