A Jasper woman was ar- rested on Monday, Oct. 28 for drunken driving after police were notified of a "reckless driver on High- way 56." Laura L. Henninger, 48, of 1300 Dewey St., Jasper, was stopped by Pike County Deputy Sheriff Paul Collier. Deputy Collier said he got a report of an orange Chevrolet Camaro driving west on Highway 56. He lo- cated the car and followed when it turned north on Highway 56. He saw it drive left of center and turned on his emergency lights. He said the vehicle pulled to the right side of the road, but kept driving at a slow speed. He then turned on his siren and the vehicle stopped. When he talked to Hen- ninger, Deputy Collier said he noticed the odor of alco- hol and slurred speech. Henninger failed field so- briety tests and was taken to the Pike County Jail, where she tested 0.14 percent for blood alcohol content. She was charged with op- erating a vehicle while in- toxicated. A Winslow man was ar- rested after he crashed in- to the back of a slowed ve- hicle on Highway 64 Mon- day afternoon. Donald Mann, 79, of 4424 S. SR 61, Winslow, was ar- rested on a charge of oper- ating a vehicle while intoxi- cated (refusal). Pike Coun- ty Sheriff Kent Johnson said Mann was driving east on Highway 64 and traffic in front of him had slowed for a flagger. Sheriff John- son said Tosha Roberts and Mann were behind Brandon Weyer. Weyer and Roberts slowed down, but Mann failed to stop and slammed into Roberts' vehicle. The impact shoved Roberts in- to Weyer. No one was injured. Sheriff Johnson said while police were investi- gated the accident, they noticed the odor of alcohol while talking to Mann. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Pike County Jail, where he re- fused a chemical test. New for the 2020 - 2021 school year, all stu- dents grade K-12 will be re- quired to have two doses of the Hepatitis A vaccine pri- or to the first day of school. The Hepatitis A vaccine is a series of two vaccinations separated by six months. This change will mainly affect eighth graders to ju- niors in high school. All other grades are al- ready required to have the Hepatitis A vaccines. Parents are encouraged to start scheduling appoint- ments for these vaccines as soon as possible. If you are unsure if your child is up-to-date, please contact the Pike County Health Department at 812- 354-8797.
