Coach Cain Parker pre- sented participation cer- tificates and academic awards, along with sever- al plaques to the runners. Shane Woodhull and Xavery Weisman were named the MVPs of the boys' and girls' teams, re- spectively. Blaine Barnett earned the boys' Men- tal Attitude Award, while Kaylyn Warner received the girls' Mental Attitude Award. Jacoby Smith and Ha- ley Brock were presented the awards for the Most Improved Runner. Kelsey Query, Weisman, Eibhlin Teague, Smith, Barnett and Xander Parker earned Academic Awards. PCMS cross country hosts banquet quarter meant for the junior varsity, where the teams could play whatever defense they liked. Pike Central defeated Northeast Dubois 14-9 in the fifth quarter, behind six points from Hailey Parker, four from Kahle Young, and two each from Taylor and Kenna Young. The Jeeps' leaders in the fifth were Kalb with five and Friea Hansson and Grace Leuken each scored two. "The best part of the scrimmage is we get to face somebody else and get to see things that we need to work on," McCutchan said. "Like I said earlier, I was pleased with several things we did, but we also have a lot of room to grow." Pike Central hosts Evans- ville F.J. Turnovers haunt Lady Oaks in Marchino's debut Former Pike Central Charger Hailey Marchino made her debut for the Oak- land City Lady Oaks at the University of Evansville on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Evansville defeated Oak- land City, 102-41, in the ex- hibition game at Meek Fam- ily Fieldhouse. Marchino played 19 min- utes and finished with four points after matching a three-pointer and finished 1-2 at the free throw line. She also hauled down three rebounds. Evansville's Abby Feit was fantastic with 32 points on 14-of-19 shooting. She al- so had seven rebounds, five steals and three blocks. Malia Schmittler led the Lady Oaks with 10 points and 14 rebounds. A staggering statistic from the contest came in the turnover battle. Oak- land City committed 50 turn- overs while UE had 13 and the Lady Aces had 57 points off of turnovers. Oakland City hosts Camp- bellsville University-Har- rodsburg on Monday Nov. 11 in its regular season open- er while Evansville starts its season at Southeast Missou- ri State on Sunday, Nov. 10.
