C-2 Church Wednesday, October 9, 2019 The Press-Dispatch Continued from page 1 CHURCH NOTE DEADLINE 10 A.M. EVERY TUESDAY Baptist Baptist Continued in next column Continued in next column "Watch a kitten when it enters a room for the first time. It searches and smells about, it's not qui- et for a moment, it trusts nothing until it has exam- ined and made acquain- tance with everything"— Jean Jacques Rousseau. This week PAWS is fea- turing an extravagant young kitten named Star- bucks, who can often be found pouncing around in the cat condo with her equally mischievous broth- er, named Bat Man. Star- bucks is a petite young tab- by with soft, short black fur, long white whiskers and white tipped paws. She also has an adorable white beauty mark on the tip of her nose. Her broth- er Bat Man is an orange tabby with big blue eyes. To adopt Starbucks or Bat Man, call 812-354-9894. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the STARBUCKS O c tOber 14-16 a t 7pm (edt) 6pm edt Refreshments will be served after singing. Mark your calendars! Sunday, Oct. 13 GUEST SPEAKER Matt Hoffman ARTHUR G eneral B aptist ChurCh 5670 S. SR 61, Winslow Pastor Ralph Newkirk Family Devotion and fellow- ship on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Vicki and Kerry McClure will celebrate their 50th wed- ding anniversary with a fel- lowship on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 3-6 p.m. in the fellow- ship hall. "I will give you assured peace in this place "( Jere- miah 14:13). "Worry," is like sitting in a rocking chair. It will give you something to do, but it won't get you anywhere. Worry and anxiety have hounded the human race since the beginning of time, and modern man with all it's innovations has not found the cure for the plague of worry. What is the answer? Imagine in your mind a fe- rocious ocean storm beating against a rocky shore. The lighting flashes, the thun- der roars, the waves lash the rocks, but then imag- ine that you see a crevice in the rocky cliff and inside is a little bird, its head serene- ly tucked under its wing, fast asleep. It knows the rock will protect it, and thus it sleeps in peace. God promised Moses, "I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with my hand" (Exodus 33:22). That is God's promise to us. Christ is our Rock, and we are secure in His hands for- ever. The storm rages, but our hearts are at rest. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. I am sure you will receive a blessing from God above. May God bless each and ev- eryone. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter ARTHUR G.B. CHURCH 5670 S. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Regular services: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. and worship service and the Lord's Sup- per at 10 :30 a.m. A couple weeks ago, I wrote about giving up. More importantly not giving up. Some of us feel like our life is like that project in the ga- rage, or the jigsaw puzzle on the table, unfinished. Unfin- ished without the urgency or the motivation to finish. And I encouraged, don't give up. You see Paul tells us in the scriptures that we are hard- pressed on every side. That seemingly in life, we feel like life at times is coming down on us from every an- gle. When that happens, we just want to give up. But that isn't where the verse ends. In fact, what Paul actually says is "We are hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in de- spair. What Paul wants us to know that in Christ, though we are faced with the harsh- est realities, our hope goes deeper and farther than our greatest despair. The hope and the promise is what we carry around. If you read fur- ther in II Corinthians 4:8 -12 you come to see that though we bear the burden of death VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. State Rd. 56 Sunday morning worship and the Lord's supper at 9:30 a.m. and Bible school at 10 :30 a.m.; evening wor- ship at 6:30 p.m. Studying Ephesians Chapter 5. You are welcome to take part in these services. Prayer Thought? Do you listen? It is said, "Many people who pray do all the talking. A great prophet once said, 'Speak, Lord, for Thy servant heareth.' Most people, when they pray, say in effect, 'Listen, Lord, For Thy servant speaketh.'" "God gave a man two ears and one mouth, so why don't we listen twice as much as we talk? " Because He lives. John Manges, Minister WINSLOW CHRISTIAN CHURCH Corner of Lafayette and Walnut Pastor 812-753-3539 Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; morning worship 10 :30 a.m.; We extend a warm wel- come to everyone. Dr. Robert Asa, Minister in this life, it is Jesus' life that is revealed. Don't give up. Grace and Peace. Everyone welcome. DJ Bryant, Pastor
